What supplements do you take? (Read 306 times)

I take a lot of stuff.

I was a big Advocare user as my wife was a distributor and I felt obligated.  She is no longer drinking the KoolAid which frees me up to choose whatever I'd like for supplements.

My ritual is to do the following prior to a workout/run

    1. NO2 supplement (Advocare o2 Gold)

    2. Thermoplus (Advocare thermogenic)

    3. Branch Chain Aminos (Catalyst)

    4. Essential Aminos

    5. Coffee

    My daily ritual

    1. Calcium

    2. Multivitamin

    3. Probiotic

    4. Fish Oil

    5. Potassium

    6. B-2/B-12

    7. Spark energy drink usually once every other day after lunch if I am dragging.  Most of my workouts require me to get up at 5am and its a struggle to have energy throughout the day.

    My question:

I'd like to replace some of the advocare products.  What do you recommend for the following

    1. NO2 Supplement:.  Here is what I found on amazon

    2. Thermogenic: Here is what I found on amazon.  I was also considering Cellucor CLK

    3. Branch Chain Aminos: Here is what I found on amazon

    4. Replacement for Advocare Spark - spark is crap, its made mostly in a lab and even though it does have the right vitamins in it, most of the ingredients can't be absorbed by the human body. If you are curious to hear more, click this.

Am I missing anything from my supplements???

Don't need calcium in support form. Magnesium more important. I would add Vit D3 (2000-5000 IU a day (get blood levels checked down the road also. I would also add a turmeric (curcumin) supp for an antioxidant and anti inflammation properties and because of extensive research around it. The other work out formulas are similar. Find one you like but don't depend on them everyday.

Has anyone ever heard of Replenish?  I take it with my protein shake a couple of hours before I trail run.  I have a waist pack with a couple of bottles of water with Replenish.  Then I drink another protein shake with Replenish.  I have only been doing this for a year and I have noticed a huge improvement in my recovery and not being sore.  Last year I just ran without anything in my shakes.

I take creatine after a run or workout. I'm 44, and recovery is way, way easier since I've been taking it.

Other than that, it's just a multi-vitamin for me. That and a reduced intake of sugar.
