| I did 5k hard tempo one night, and was doing a nice slow 10k cool down when I passed two young girls (I am 57, they were early 20's). One called out "Slow down, you're making us look bad!" |

One of the kids on my block saw me starting on my run and said, "Good...go run..it's healthy for you." At least he knows that much.
I had a biker that passed me and said "I finally caught you."
And just today someone said they saw me running last week so I told her I was doing the Grandma's half marathon and she told me that she wished she could be that dedicated.
I'm starting to like it when people think I am crazy for running 6 or 8 miles....I can't wait to see the looks when I get over 10 mi. |

THIS is a compliment?!? Although, I've been beaten by many a fast fatboy, bow-legged 65ish year old men, and countless ladies in races. |

| Probably back in HS when I was given the strangest nickname I've ever heard. A teammate said to me..."How do you run that hard? You must have no organs." After that I was known as "No Organs." |

| I was told by a newbie runner that she liked to run with me because she "found my cadence and demeanor to be relaxing" and I made her realize that running could be fun. That was the bees' knees for me. |

My neighbor told me her friend saw me out running and said, "She looks like she's twelve!" Then a few weeks later that same neighbor pulled up behind me as I was walking home from a long run and said, "You DO look twelve!" |

I did a 10K once, a long time ago, in which I was trying to go sub-40 min for the first time. Ended up being me and another guy I didn't know going back and forth on the lead (for us, we werent winning the race). At about 5.5 miles he pulled even with me and said let's go. He went ahead and I just didn't have anything left to stay with him. I ended up running a 39:19 and he did just under 39. After the race as I was walking away with my kids in tow he came up and shook my hand and thanked me for "pushing him". He said he never would have run the sub-39 without me there in the middle of the race. After he walked away my 12YO daughter couldn't believe that I had 'pushed him'! I had to explain to her what that really meant. |
2008 Goals:
2000 miles for the year
100 mile week
Sub 3:10 marathon
Sub 19min 5K

| Well, I'm 38, but it still means the WORLD to me to hear my mom tell me she's proud of me for running. At my first 5k last month, she was teary-eyed when I crossed the finish line. That's a compliment. |

A tall senior came up to my 5'-6" tall son at his last track meet and told him, "You're a F***ing mini-terminator!" DS was quite proud of that, lol.
