I think his training in Japan in the humidity really paid off.
BTW, that was amazing what he did...I was totally impressed and kept waiting for the pace to slow down until about mile 20 when Wanjiru still looked really good.
Did you see him after the race celebrating? I saw guys who ran the 400 that it looked to take longer to recover.

Wanjiru may be better used to the heat and humidity than the others, but he trained in Kenya for the last two months before the Olympics.
Also, if you noticed, he was running faster in his victory lap than Merga (4th place) was in his last lap.
