I have a 5k on Mother's day. My wife will be out of town living it up with her girl friends. That means I have the kids to myself all weekend. I will be running a small local 5K that is supposed to be extremely flat.

My goal is sub 18:00 with both kids in the double jogger. I think I am capable of it but I really need the right conditions to do it(Low heat, no wind).

Anyway, good luck to everyone racing this weekend.

Hi everyone,

On Sunday I'm doing the New York Junior League Mother's Day 4-mile (http://www.nyrr.org/races/2008/r0511x00.asp)

This is my first race in about a year (running for just over 2 years now, but a bit on-and-off with both training and racing) so I'm not really sure what time to expect. Under 42:00 would be nice.

Here is the elevation profile for the course. If there is no wind I might look for a mile pr on the first mile also. After last week that would require a 4:54!

I am in for this weekend

I am doing the Medical Center 6K in Nashua, NH on Mother's Day. It is definitely not a flat course - from the elevation profile I saw there is a really large hill at mile. I have run a 6K before but couldnt find the results. I think my PR was around 30:00 or so, but that was quite a few years back so I should beat it no problem either way.

website is at www.medicalcenter6k.com

This is the second race in the USATF - New England Grand Prix series. I am trying to run all 7 events which ends with teh Baystate marathon in October in Lowell. If I do them all I get a jacket - woohoo.

I do feel a little bad because I'm not sure if my wife is coming or not. The race is at 9:30 and my oldest daughter sings in the choir at 9:30 mass so she may be taking the kids to mass while I run. But I'll take them out in the afternoon so she can get a break. Smile

Central States TIMTAM 50K

A no frills, $10 entry fee, 6 x 5.25 mile loop, flat run in a beautiful park in Ames, Iowa. Last year 4:41, hopefully this year ~4:30. A great way to spend a Sunday morning.

Good luck all!

Fifth-Third Bank Riverbank Run 25k--largest in the US. I'm hoping to get under 2:30. Last year I slid in just under 2:40.

Running the Mississauga Half Marathon on Sunday May 11.

No time goal, my training hasn't great in the last couple of weeks.

http://www.mississaugamarathon.com

MTA: I think tuf_aint_enough (Dave) is running the full marathon at Mississauga I'm going to sick around to watch the marathoners come in and try to pick him out of the crowd. Let the stalking begin.

Any other RA-ers running in Mississauga this weekend?

I am running a first year 5k race in my hometown of Nashville, NC on Saturday. I suck at 5k's (well, actually I pretty much suck at all distances) so anything below 22 minutes I can live with. My mpw are down since my last marathon, but I have been doing more cross training - hopefully I have not lost too much running fitness.

I am more excited that it will be my wife's first ever race....I've finally managed to suck her into my running addiction.

Good luck, all! I'm not racing again in May, I want to give my body a break after a tough winter training schedule (which should help me avoid plateauing too early in the Summer)

If anybody is running the Sea Dogs Mother's Day 5k in Portland, Maine on Sunday, then stop by and say hi to me. I'll be working registration from 6:30-8:30 or 9:00ish, and then I'll be somewhere on the course keeping traffic from running you over.

I'll be pleased with 35:00, shocked with anything less than 33:00.
I'm shooting for 10:30-11:00 minute splits, and to not walk at all (the not walking part should not be a problem)

This is my first race since last summer, and I'm using this mainly to see how my training is going and to measure my current fitness.

I'm running a 1500 and a 5000 on Saturday.

Alas, my injury situation means that this will be my track opener, even though it's a last chance meet for college kids trying to qualify for nationals.

I'm shooting for 4:05 in the 1500.

I'll double back for the 5000 and just try to get under 16 minutes. I need that time to qualify for more free gear, and I haven't had a chance to race a 5k yet this year. It probably wouldn't be too tough to do fresh, but it might be interesting after the 1500. Skipping the 1500 is not an option, since there's such a narrow window of the year to run fast track miles.
What was the secret, they wanted to know; in a thousand different ways they wanted to know The Secret. And not one of them was prepared, truly prepared to believe that it had not so much to do with chemicals and zippy mental tricks as with that most unprofound and sometimes heart-rending process of removing, molecule by molecule, the very tough rubber that comprised the bottoms of his training shoes. Gum Tree 10k- Tupelo, MS

My heart's not really in it but it's in my parent's hometown and we are there for Mother's Day. It's become sort of tradition for my wife and I to run it. I'm not going to kill myself trying to beat last year's time since it's supposed to be hot and humid. I'll be okay with anything under 55 mins.

However, the field is supposed to be much larger than last year. 1200 or so, pretty good for Mississippi standards.
