Apparently the Grand Rapids Marathon/half is doing this for this year. Can ya' guess what I specified be printed on mine...?

Big grin I knew you'd chime-in! Weren't you talking about custom race shirts, too? That's an especially cool idea! Muse did a race a while back with custom bibs, too, IIRC.

BTW, with the custom bibs does a runner not have a # on their bib or how does that work...?

We do numbers and names. On the shirts, we do names. Some have suggested printing the race number on the shirt as well. There is one company that will print your bib on your shirt for certain marathons.
