Sacrum Pain? (Read 514 times)

So, I am having pain just above my tailbone.  I guess it would be in my sacrum.  It doesn't hurt to sit, and I haven't fallen down.  Last week though I logged more miles than ever before, but i have only been slowly increasing mileage, no big jumps or anything.  And my feet feel fine, which is where I usually harbor running pains (plantar fasciitis).  Anyway, it most hurts when i am moving from a straightleg, bent over position to standing, such as when stretching, or picking up something (that is not heavy) off the floor.  It's not excruciating, but definitely painful.

Any ideas on what could be causing this? Anybody ever feel anything similar?

    Thanks in advance.

Is it right above tailbone or a bit to one side (SI joint)????

I've had something like this...not sure what caused it.  An osteopathic treatment mostly cleared it up.

I am currently in physical therapy for an SI joint dislocation (due to a fall), so unfortunately I have recently become more informed that I would like, on this topic!

Your symptoms definitely sound like this could be an SI joint issue. Even if the pain is not to one side, it could definitely still be the SI joint (though as Tchuck says, to one side is more common).  From what I understand, these things are tricky. You might want to try physical therapy -- they were the only ones to diagnose my problem correctly -- an osteopath and an orthopedist did not.

It is really just right above the tail bone, and a little on both sides, but definitely not asymmetrical. and I don't know if i can tell the difference between muscle/bone pain.  or can you really even feel bone pain?

is there a correlation between the new pain and your first 2 hour ride in a while ?

no, the pain actually started before that.  i'm hoping a few laps in the pool will work this out.
