I have a neutral foot with very high arches..I need LOTS of cushioning to make up for the lack of flexibility in my foot. I've had some shin issues, and he suggested something like Nike Shox for the cushioning.

I have not ran in Nike Shox, but tried a few pairs on. They felt terrible. Other people that have ran in them have told me they suck. Nike quit making good running shoes about 10 years ago IMHO. MTA: It may just be my feet, but Nike running shoes don't feel right to me these days.
The Shox are mall shoes. The Skylons and Haywards are great neutral trainers, IMO.
