Medium to high arches here and my feet are quite narrow too. I'm still in love with the Asics Gel Nimbus 8s (ended up buying several on clearance). My second choice at the time was the Adidas Adistar. I'm interested in trying out the Nimbus 10s, as I've heard good things about them.

The Skylons and Haywards are great neutral trainers, IMO.

What's the deal with these Nike models? I thought I saw that they were being merged or something....

I have very high arches too and need a neutral cushioned shoe.

Currently I have a couple of new pairs of Reebok Premier Fusion II's that I rotate ($75 /pair). They were recently rated "Best Buy" by Runner's World, and they are good inexpensive lightweight cushioned trainers. Yes

I really liked the Nike Air Pegasus and would get them again - I liked the cushioning and the waffle sole design - I've used them for a little trail running, too.

I've had a couple of more expensive shoes ($130) - Mizuno and Spira - but other than that, couldn't tell any difference really... Confused

Ditto on the very high arches along with wide (2E) feet. And a second recommendation for Asics Cumulus XX. I recently bought a set of NB 1062 but am starting to not like them. They are a hair too long and the surface on the insole is bumpy and creates hot spots when I run hard in them. I'm starting to learn high arches wear shoes out faster because we don't distribute the weight well (and I go 180+ lbs).

I also tried a set of flats for racing in 3 races this year and have not had any problems. They're a little too narrow for comfortable runs but I didn't shop much before I bought them. I got a coupon as a race award and put it towards the flats.

I think the Hayward replaced the Skylon for a while but then they brought back the Skylon name and redesigned the Hayward to make it more different from the Skylon. Or something.

I also like the Landreth.

I just bought a new pair of shoes today!! I tried on everything in the store. Ended up with Asics Nimbus 10s. Had Asics Cumulus 9 before. I tried on NB, Brooks and Mizuno. Loved the Mizuno Wave Creation 9. Not only the way they feel in the heel, but the color rocked! Needed one size up and they didn't have them. Cry The Nimbus feel great and fit everywhere. The Robotic metallic look puts me off, but meh...gotta get over it. The NB were horrid on my feet. Felt like walking on rocks. The Brooks were nothing special. I can't even remember the names of those, but all in the neutral cushioned area. Asics are the way to go!

Thanks for all the responses! I'm going to look into some of the shoes mentioned. I need to go back to the running store and look into some Asics. For some reason all the times I've been in there, he's never brought out any Asics for me to try. I know he carries them, but maybe not the cumulus?? Dunno. We only have one store here, so my choices may be limited without a drive to a bigger city.

I thought Nike shoes are crap, too. I haven't owned a pair in years. My podiatrist is a runner, so I thought maybe he knows something I didn't about shoes. Maybe he's just throwing that out there about the Shox for me to look into new shoes in general. I just bought these Glycerins, so I can't really give an opinion on them yet. They don't feel as cushioned to me as the Adidas Bostons though.

I third the Asics Landreth - they feel a lot lighter to me than the nimbus and the glycerin (whether or not they're lighter, the others felt like bricks on my feet).

I fourth the Landreth. Just put about 30 or 40 miles on my new ones and they're great. They feel softer now than they did brand new. My foot strike is soooo quiet in them. I actually have moderately low arches and overpronate a little so I run in them with arch supports and find them to feel soft and very responsive. I had run in Nike before and had nothing but trouble. Brooks are good too but they just didn't quite fit right for me. I love my ASICs. It's funny - my running store tried everything except ASICs too - until I asked to try some. Weird. Good luck!

Yeah the Shox are pretty much a waste. They don't give much for cushioning and are pretty heavy.

Has anybody tried both the Glycerine and the Radius? Is there a difference? One better than the other?

I have pretty picky feet and have a bunion to deal with and orthotics. I have tried on the Glycerine but like the feel of the Brooks Radius better. One of better cushioned neutrals out there and fairly light. One of my favorites but they will no longer make them. I believe the Brooks Defyance has taken its place.

The other neutral shoe I really really like is the Saucony Trigon Ride 4 or 5. I have owned both. The four feels a bit softer but with my orthotics the 4 or 5 seem to work beautifully with ample cushion. I would say the 5 have a tad more stability than the Radius and Cumulus.

I have also owned the Mizuno Wave Creation which felt quite good to me.

Asics Landreth-- never even noticed these before my last visit to the running store. Lots of cushion, and relatively light.

My favorite is the NB 826, but I run in those during tempos, intervals and races. Very soft and light shoe.

For long and easy runs I'm on my 3rd pair of the NB 1061/1062.

I too run in NB826 (my favorite shoe so far), Do you think these run a half size too small? My toes are crushed in this shoes while the same sized ASICS 21xx are a bit too big.

How do the 1062 compare with 826. I like the light/soft aspect of the 826, but want a bit more cusioning for longer runs over 10 miles

I am on my second pair of Volmero 2, the only issue i had is that the stock insert was horrible and i started using the Sole moldable inserts because my shins were giving me issues.
That being said i am always looking, anyone use the Nike Elite 4 shoes? I get a discount on Nike at work so i tend to stay with Nike.
My first pair of shoes were the Trigon 4 Which were the best fiiting shoes i ever had, but the newer 5 model just did not fit right.

I have freakishly high arches and really narrow feet. I have run in ASICs Cumulus, but upgraded to the Nimbus 8 a year or so ago. I also have the Saucony Grid Triumph (3 and 4). I'm cheap so I'm always a series behind. I wait until the new model comes out before buying the old model.
