I have been a runner for many years and have lived 3+ decades. When did the "we need water for everything revolution begin?"
Kids going to t-ball "bring water" Kids going to soccer ' bring water" Ladies walking on the trail “bring water’ Guys in the gym – ‘Bring fructose filled drinks” Kids at bug camp "bring water......... College kids carry nalgene bottles……
I seem to remember not having any hydration but a local shared drinking fountain of warm fluid, and have survived pretty well.......

I know I like to drink water - especially when it's hot outside and I'm active.
I guess it's all about the concept of "better safe than sorry." |

100% agreed, Cagery. This goes well with printing "Warning - Contents are hot!" on styrofoam coffee cups. |

| actually, it is just an evil marketing plot by the major drink manufacturers to get you to buy something that is normally free in a package that wastes resources and increases pollution and global warming.... |

I can take the water its just the snacks required for everything that makes me nuts. Snacks for EVERY kid thing...snacks for every run over 10 minutes, 100 calorie pack snacks eaten 7 times a day by most....snack, snack, snack and most of it is crap. |

Yeah. Same here. I've got no problem with giving the kids water when doing sports. But 300 calorie cupcakes after a 45 minute softball game? WTF? Wasn't winning the game enough reward? |

Unless it was a particularly exciting win, in which case nothing short of a trip to Dairy Queen would be acceptable. |

Good point on the snacks-
Everything the kids do need snacks. Not oranges or apples, but cookies, cupcakes, chips. I guess that makes the water easier to accept! |
