Need help! Lost motivation with 25 days until first Marathon (Read 664 times)

I got my tickets already. I watched the preview and have been geeked ever since to see the movie.
Will it hold up in '09?

Yes, that was harsh and uncalled for, but you did post a good video. I watched all of it, and I hope that I am never able to post any whines ever again.

pRED is right, my first comments were meant to be funny, but came off as mean-spirited and was, indeed, uncalled for, so for that I apologize, Jeff. Good luck in getting your mojo back to get at it! My apologies for being a more than boob, boob. Blush Black eye

What an incredible story. I will admit that there are tears currently running down my face. I am so glad you shared this.

Oh... I sobbed like a baby who just got their bottle taken away from them, Shaunna. Course, if you pop open my blog and go back to my very first post, http://runningforcassy.blogspot.com/2008/01/preface-purpose.html , you'll understand why.

Modified to add: Sorry for the threadjack now, Jeff. GOSH! What an arsehole I am! Roll eyes

That is great Rick. I am constantly inspired by the kind things that runner's on here are doing. What a great motivation to help you along with your marathon training.

I would try to get ouside for some mid-day runs when the sun is out. One thing I wish I would have done for the last marathon I trained for was when I started to feel burn-out was to take a couple days off of work. Seriously it gets hard to juggle work, training, family etc, and I think a day or two of me time would have served me well.

Attempt to get outside for a few runs, and during the daylight on the weekends.

(I grew up near Ann Arbor and went to school in E. Lansing. I am aware of how cold it gets).

Push through a few more runs, get a sports/deep tissue massage, then the taper will begin. Before you know it you'll be planning for your next marathon.........

Good luck and move forward.

I am training for the Breast Cancer Marathon in Jacksonville, FL. Truthfully, I usually run outside and have more than enough gear to make it happen. The problem lately is the wind and the sub zero wind chill factors. I have my last long run this weekend and with temps in the 30's, I will be just fine. Thanks again for all the support!

Just a thought, but will you be able to handle the heat in Jacksonville? or does some tm training help with that? (I really hate tm myself, but I'm not training for any warm races.)

I was just thinking that. NOT. I don't think you could be an arsehole even if you REALLY tried.

Be sure to update us on your mojo and taper Jeff, can't wait to read your race report.

I think Bugs and Tri's suggestions about trying to get outside for daylight runs are great. I have a flexible job as far as hours go so, even on a brutally cold day like today (14), I can at least get out during the daylight which makes it a bit easier than the cold AND the dark.

Wow, Tri, you settled quite a ways from your earlier days. Did you go to East Lansing High? I lived up there for 5 years during my MSU days.

Ed... thanks for the kind comment. I appreciate it. Sometimes I don't think before I type or speak though. Get that from my mother. DOH! Roll eyes

I spent five years at MSU also. I headed out west after graduation and became a softee. It's 48 degrees with rain, and it seems really cold today.

Outside of last night, I have not been running for the excuse that I'm overheated and dehydrated (and tired). Black eye
