VO2Max (Read 334 times)

Eric,
You've already got many great features on your webpage, dare I ask for another? Is there scope for a pseudo VO2Max (as per Jack Daniel's formula)? I'd envisage that it only appears for recording race events (ie, max effort over a known distance). With this figure I can make a realistic assessment of my fitness, and predict my time and pace for future events.

Steve,
In order to add this, I'll have to research how to correctly predict VO2 max. Instead of tying it to the race, maybe it should be on a calculator page instead, since this value changes based on your conditioning. If you know his formula, could you send it my way? That would help me get it done sooner. Thanks!

Eric,
The formula is as follows and the page from which I copied it.
Steve
How do you estimate VO2 max from race results?
The formula used in the calculation is taken from Daniels & Gilbert (see references):
VO2 Max=(-4.60 + 0.182258 * velocity + 0.000104 * velocity^2)/(0.8 + 0.1894393 * e^(-0.012778 * time) + 0.2989558 * e^(-0.1932605 * time))
Note that velocity is in metres per minute; and time is in minutes.

Steve,
Thanks for the formula. I'll add it when I get a chance. Do you know what all the other numbers are? Maybe I should read the book to see how that formula's derived.
