...Frosty...

I didn't run the full marathon but I ran what was suppose to be the tough leg of the 5 person relay... leg 4... mostly uphill but only 5k...
Anyways... Normally when something is hyped so much I am dissapointed. I was really impressed with the organization of this race! The section of the course I ran was beautiful and the organization around the 5 person relay was really well done. On top of that I think the relay handoff points added some extra crowd support for the marathoners...
That being said I am not sure how much I like the idea of always getting passed by relay folks...
The voluteers were great and numerous... I was impressed enough that I want to go back and run the full marathon next year.
one note the womens masters winner is running another marathon tomorrow... interested to see how she does...

This is a great weekend for running doubles. (and if you are at Lake Tahoe, this is the weekend of the triple marathon)
I noticed that the overall women's winner (Sarah Plaxton) is a masters age runner. Was she the masters winner who is running another one tomorrow? Or did they declare different masters winner (I guess it would be Connie Gardner) since Sarah won the whole enchilada?
Akron is a very cool race.
Yes, as a marathoner, it can be distracting when relayers zoom by... but I don't mind. A lot of people DO mind.
What is kind of bothersome is when races locate their on-course portapotties at the relay handoffs. For full marathoners, if we stop to potty, it's kind of annoying to have to wait behind relayers and spectators who are not currently 'on the clock'.
With realistic Pants-on-Fire action!

I love/hate the relays. I hate it when they pass me but I love it when I pass them. It is an awesome feeling to know that you can beat a team of 4-5 people!
