Good thing I'm planning to bring my own sport drink, for the most part. I just found buried in the FAQs for my race on Sunday that they will have
Gatorade Endurance Formula
. I had wanted to try this during the hottest part of Summer, but couldn't locate it anywhere around here. I ended up mixing my own regular Gatorade and using the Gatorade "Tiger" during my hottest/longest runs. I will be using Tiger in my Amphipod belt.
Makes me wonder how many runners may end up sick on the course if they're not accustomed to the Endurance stuff (ha, more people for me to pass!
). I believe it's about 2x stronger than regular Gatorade, in terms of electrolytes. The Tiger is only 25% more potent and even that's pretty salty-tasting.

Gatorade Endurance is my absolute favorite. It's perfect exactly as it comes. No dilution needed. Always tastes great, and keeps me feeling good even during those really hot races.
My wife hates it.
YMMV.

If it seems to strong (or salty), just grab a cup of water and cut it to your preference.
Some (not lots) of races use it... I like it a lot actually.
Beats the pants off ultima.

I believe it only comes in a powered mix.
Last December, it was given out at the Dallas Whiterock Half Marathon and Marathon aid stations. No post run headaches when I drank it so it worked well for me.
I've gotten this
NUUN
stuff at several Fort Worth races and will probably avoid it in the future.

Man, I wish I could have gotten my hands on the Endurance stuff before the race. I like regular Gatorade and Tiger, but probably will pass on the Endurance, at least until after I've finished as more of a recovery thing.

Zoom. I am with you. Chicago is using the Endurance Formula. I tried to find some around here but could not. I am glad you posted about this as I did not know the difference between that and "Tiger" or the "X Factor" type. That is what I have been using on my runs this summer as well. Maybe I will just grab the water for the most part as it should be a lot cooler then when I did my longer runs.

That's what gets me about them using that stuff, too...hello, it's only supposed to be a high of like 62º. Seems a bit overkill to use that stuff when the temps are generally so comfortable in early Oct.

Around Here, We have located it at Cycling shops...
It's pretty popular among Tri-Athletes, so I am guessing that is why the cycling places have it.
Hub and I used Cytomax ( not the thick nutritional stuff) during the hottest months in the summer when Long runs got up there in mileage, and I personally loved it ( Citrus flavor that tastes exactly like a good lemonade) and so did Hub. Very easy on the stomach, ( I am super sensitive to the sugars in alot of the sports drinks) and just the right balance of salts.
Not that you would try anything different for your Marathon Zoomie.... Stick with what you know, and I am sure you will be great...

it's funny ... they are using it in NYC and I can't locate it anywhere. [Haven't been killing myself looking for it, but it's not at any convenience stores ... wondering if you can buy it at BJ's.] Anyone know where you can buy it in bulk / case?
Check that i just found a link www.enduranceformula.com/StoreLocator

Well, poo...there is a place within 20 minutes of me that carries it. Too bad it's too late for me to give it a try. I'll have to keep that in mind for next year.

I wonder if the weather last year around this time has made the race directors go a bit overboard. Lets all hope that there is no heat wave in the next few weeks.

Oh, how I detest ultima. I will never again drink that crap. I ran a ½ marathon slower than my training pace after having that at the water stops in one race.

Yeah...Chicago was a year ago!
Looks like Sunday is going to be gorgeous...race start under 50º, it will probably only be around 60º at the finish--woot!
