I've run the Yasso 10 x 800 before every Marathon that I have run. I have found it to be accurate at defining finess levels as a prediction of finshing time. I do not use the time interval between 800, but the 800 distance. When I first read about Yasso's the recommendation was for a 2 mile warm up and cool down. Which takes the training around to around 9 miles. This changes the training run from a simple 5 miles of 800 meter intervals to 9 miles of distance training integrated with speed work.

Why does this work? I have no earthly idea how meters can translate into miles and how minutes equals hours. It must be magic! Whatever the reason I have had success with them. If they don't seem to work for you, then I wouldn't use them and would move on to a different training tool.

Anyhow just my 2 cents worth.

Good luck on your training.
