August Runs (Read 531 times)

My longest run was 18.25 miles in 3:03:10

My favorite run/workout was this interval session:
2.283 mile warmup, 5 X 1K (4:16, 4:17, 4:16, 4:12, 4:11) with 1:20 to 1:35 recoveries followed by 4 X 200M striders, and then 2.391 mile cooldown = total 9.26 miles.

One of the nicest things about this forum is that it is not full of knuckleheads who are constantly bragging about how far or how fast that they run.

Wait.

Are you saying we are not knuckleheads? I beg to differ.

And are you saying we are not constantly bragging about how far and how fast we run? We have a whole forum dedicated to doing just that. How could you miss a forum that shamelessly calls out, Look What I Can Do!

But to answer the quesiton, my longest was a 22.7 miles in 2:46:47. My favorite was a 13 miler near Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire, in a hard rain storm.
My longest run for August was 7 miles, a new route that I mapped out, and I did it in 1:07:30.

I have a tie for my best run though...either 5.16 miles where I felt like I was really dragging, but finished under 9:30 miles or a 3.5 mile loop where I finally broke the 9 min/mile mark.
This is a great thread idea!

Longest: 20 Miles in 3:04:10

Favorite: That very same 20 miler. I had an awful run two weeks earlier, coming up over a mile short of completing what was intended to be an 18 miler. There is a marathon coming up and I needed a shot of confidence. This 20 felt great. While my legs started feeling a little tired, they also seemed to find a perfect form and my running got stronger and faster in the last 5 miles. I strode up to my door feeling great. After a quick shower, I was off biking and doing other things which I never can quite manage after a 20-something. I had no soreness, and even some sore spots I had before the run seemed to have diminished.

My longest run was 7 miles in 55:15. I am kinda getting in to progressive runs, so the first mile was 8:40 while the last mile was 7:12.

My favorite run: Any run. Just me, my music, and the road. It's da bomb-diggity.

Longest run: 20 mile progression run on Sunday. Ouch, it hurt at the end.

Favorite run!!! I did 2 triathlons in a row on Aug 2 & 3. The first was a sprint tri and the 2nd was an olympic tri, so my final run was a 10K (like, the 6th event in 2 days). I was passing people, joking, feeling strong, yeah baby...and I scored a 10K PR! I love running.
Plotting revenge marathon. Maybe Napa.

Well, Mikeymike is right again. The Look What I Can Do forum is open to all kinds of bragging. I've bragged there before on my (very) slow runs and (relatively) short runs and gotten effusive praise and great pats on the back from the fabulously supportive runners in this community.

To continue with the spirit of this great thread . . .

My longest August run was a 13 miler. I'll claim the fastest of two, at 1:59:25, giving me hope of cracking 2 hours in November, even with water stops. My favorite run was Saturday's thunderstorm-shortened 8-miler (it was supposed to be 10), b/c it was a little horror-filmy with runners emerging from the mist in the pre-dawn darkness (no lights on the road b/c of sea turtles), a crackling lightning that got gradually closer, and a driving rain on the last two miles. Yee-haw! That's running, baby!

Longest run was 14 miles in 1:40.

Favorite run was a really hilly run I did back home in an intense thunderstorm. I had to take shelter for about half an hour while the worst of it passed over.
longest run was 10 miles in 1:29:32 two weeks ago.

Favorite run was a 9.5 miler I just did Saturday on a beautiful trail through historic Lexington & Concord, MA. Battle Road Trail. First run with the Shamrock running club and it was fantastic. Can't wait to go again. But now I need to get a Garmin so I can add miles onto it.
2009 goals:
Run a marathon or two and run 2000 miles

1) What was your longest run last month, and how fast did you do run it?

2) What was your favorite run last month?
.

1) 100 miles in 26 hours 22 min 20 sec.

2) My wife and I did an easy 3 mile run with our 2 1/2 year old (in the jogging stroller) last month. It was her first run in nearly 4 years. It was great to get back out with her.

1. Longest run: 7.6 km - my longest run to date. Done as 10:1. Took me 65 minutes.

2. Favourite run: same as the longest - I did it on the boardwalk in Charlottetown PEI along the harbourfront. It was cool and quiet and very pretty.
PB: 36:44 2008 STWM 5k ... now to bring that lower...
Longest run: 9.4 miles in 1:47.

Best run: An 8.2-mile run just before sunset. Perfect weather, and one of those runs where I felt as if I was floating the whole way.

Masters Clydesdale
Longest run was about 7.5 miles and it took me probably 1:10:00 or so.

Favorite was the last one of the month. I was on a trial covered with lots of pine needles and it had a bit of spongy to it. It was going great and about 2 or 3 milesof that run gave me that feeling of "goodness... look at my legs... they are just going by themselves". Then I felt a slight twinge in my shin and I slowed it down and shut down with a cool down. I wanted to keep going but I had to end the day. But those few miles were great. I love that feeling when it seems like no effort at all and you are going at a decent pace. It seems like it would take effort to actually stop running. That's the best feeling.
2009 masters goals - 1:10 400m, 2:40 800m, 6:00 mile, 21:00 5k, 45:00 10k, 1:45:00 1/2 marathon

My longest run in August was my failed attempt at a 50 mile race. I did 35 miles in 9 hours. Since I only ended up getting 103 total miles for the month, I pretty much broke every rule with that one.

If you even attempted a 50 mile race then there is no way you failed. I don't even want to think about 50 miles on my bike.

Longest run was a 9.85 run at a 10:16 pace.
August was my highest mileage month by less than a mile.

August was my highest as well. But I'm a odd duck in that I don't mind the heat and humidity and would rather run when it's 85 than 65.

I did not mean to imply that there are no knuckleheads here. I only meant to say that there are none of that particular type of knucklehead.
