You youngsters don't know anything about BAD. The worst album I bought was by Gary Puckett and the Union Gap. The one song it had was named "Young Girl", I think. I'm too old to rememebr the details...

OMG my sister had that and played it OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER Dead.
She put it on continuous repeat.

I shot it with my 22 rifle when I was 14.

As they say in Texas, it needed shootin'

Later on she replaced it with this:

No, I don't want the damned combo special. Now quit asking me that.
I don't know if it still exists, but record stores (yes the kind that sold vinyl) used to have a massive listing of songs and artists known as the Schwann guide. I guessed wrong on the artist when I was trying to pick up "I Ain't Gonna Eat Out My Heart Anymore" and wound up with Angel instead of The Rascals. The Spinal Tap-esque cover alone should have prevented this tragic mistake, but I was young and foolish. I'm now old and foolish.

MTA: It's available on CD for the bargain price of $7.19 plus shipping and handling. I kid you not, there must be enough demand to press a CD. Big in Japan?

Honorable mention to Deep Blue Something's Home

There were actually 2 different prints of Home because they did not get cleared to release the Beattles song they covered. The original Rainmaker release has "Dear Prudence". Off that album, I really enjoyed Red Lights, Gammer Gerten's Needle (instrumental), and Halo (Single version is worth a listen if you haven't heard it.).

Back in 95 or 96, I went to a small concert where Deep Blue Something opened for Duran Duran (Cover Album period... where they were doing White Lines, Lay Lady Lady, Ball of Confusion, etc.).

I went to a tiny high school. 17 people, all guys, in my class. 15 of them were Rush fanatics. 1 hated Rush, loved Bruce Springsteen. Then there was me. I tried to like Rush.

Unfortunately, my first purchase was Caress of Steel. "I think I'm going bald". GAH.

I also think that Rush pulled a Chicago along the way... but Rush fanatics are mean, so I usually keep this to myself.

Others that I'd put on my wasted vinyl list:

Led Zeppelin's Presence
The Beatles' Rarities (circa 1982. No real rarities. Lots of stereo/mono twiddles)
Rolling Stones' Black and Blue
With realistic Pants-on-Fire action!
Lord of the Manor
The flys
Roads, where we're going we don't need any....roads.
Band on the Run - Paul McCartney.

It was the first album I ever bought. I played it and played it and TRIED so hard to like it but no dice - it sucked.

Did you just feel that sharp jab? That was my srlopez voodoo doll. You're right--we Rush fans ARE mean.
I tried to get into Rush too. I have a bunch of their albums. Musically, they are very good. I just can't get past Geddy Lee's voice to save my freakin' life.

The worst albums I've ever purchased were Creed albums.

They were good for a week, when "My Own Prison" came out.

Now I can't stand to see anything with their name on it.

Does anyone remember Paul and Linda McCartney "singing" Love is Strange as a Reggae song, and Paul hiting that sour note?

The song "Mumbo" where Paul screams incoherently for 3 1/2 minutes.

Bip bop bip bam bop bip bop bip bop bam!

That's my trip down Memory Lane.

"All Along the Watchtower."

My oldest daughter was born 10 1/2 weeks early at 2 lbs 2 oz. It was by an emergency C Section due to maternal preeclampsia. I remember very clearly that as they pulled out her tiny little baby body that Hendrix' version of All Along the Watchtower was blaring on the anesthesiologist's radio. Kiddo came out screaming, full of energy and got perfect Apgar scores; she has not slowed down since.

<tangent> Yes, but does she sing the line "Business man, drink my wine... come and dig my herb..." ??

One of the most frequently misheard lyrics of all-time. Good for winning bar bets.

And, oddly, one of the only times EVER when it is correct to say, "You can actually understand what Bob Dylan is singing better than (x)".

(for those who don't know, the real line is "ploughman/plowman dig my earth" instead of "come and dig my herb". But the misheard lyric makes so much more sense, especially in the Hendrix version)

C'mon SrLopez...really? I own all of these albums and I will say as albums go they are not the best or a standout for these bands, but there are some good individual cuts to be found.

As a Rush fan I've always liked Bastille Day, on Zeps Presence Achillies Last Stand, For Your Life, Nobody's Fault...all very good tunes! I agree with the Beatles rarity...not much rare and the overall sound is not good. Black and Blue by the stones has a couple of gems...Hey Negrita, Memory Hotel and who could forget Fool to Cry?. Anyway, I mostly agree but again gems hidden within a "bad album".

My choice...Black Sabbath "Live at Last" (they SUCK live!)
