My wife is about 9 weeks pregnant with twins! Shocked We're extremely happy and excited after having tried (and had a lot of problems along the way) for a year now. I think I'm still in shock! Any advice? Anyone else out there have twins? How will this affect my running?! Big grin

Congratulations!!! It took me a while (with problems), also. You will have a blast! I didn't run when I had little ones, so other people will have to tell you about that. I would imagine the running will help you be a better dad, though, because you'll have more energy.

Yay! I don't have kids, but it seems like a good idea to try to relax and enjoy the ride. Big grin

CONGRATULATIONS! I am the proud aunt of 4yo twin boys. Can't help much with running with babies in the house, though, b/c I didn't start running until my kids were 1 and 3.

I will say twins are lots of fun--but lots of work when they're little. Get ready to get in there and help out. You've been waiting and hoping for this, so I know you're thrilled and nothing can dampen your spirits. My sister got lots of help from twin support groups and message boards; you and your wife may want to check these out eventually.

Again, congratulations. Children are such a blessing, especially when they've been longed for. Enjoy every minute.
But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. (Is. 40:31)

Congrats! I don't know about the twins, but my wife and I have a 2 month old and he has been a blast so far. In terms of your running, be prepared to take a hiatus when they arrive. You'll have more important (and rewarding) things to be doing with your time. Good luck!

Congrats. As a proud dad of 7 year old twins here is my advice - sleep now while you can and enjoy the ride. Its better than anything else I've ever experienced.

Congratulations!!!!

I haven't had twins but I do have a daycare and 2 of my tots started at the same time with me at 6 weeks and they are only 4 days apart....

the only advice I have is this:

Try to keep to a schedule, it won't always be perfect but it will do all of you a world of good.
Be flexible within that schedule if need be a bit.
Keep a written log of when they eat, how much and how many diapers they are going through a day and the type, i.e. pee or poop.
Most important remember that you are still husband and wife not just mommy and daddy...

A good friend of ours used to tell my hubby and I when you are in an airplane and it's going down and the oxygen masks drop they always say for the adults to put on the masks first and then your children's masks.... when mom and dad aren't taking care of themselves and each other they won't be able to take care of the wee ones properly.

Good luck and congrats again!!!

Great advice from Turtlechick! You and DW MUST make time for each other - have someone watch the babies as soon as possible so that you can get out and TALK to each other. You really need to keep communicating during the first year, as hard as it is to find the time and energy.

Thanks everyone! Great advice so far. I'm definitely trying to enjoy my sleep while I can! Sleepy I know I'll have to take a break from running when the time comes, but it will be worth it. Smile

Congrats!!! My impression from all my twin mommy friends is the first year is harder but then they always have someone to play with giving you a bit of peace now and then!

    Congratulations!

I was going to throw in a link to a "Star Wars Crawl" about somebody that was going to have twins, but when I went to get the URL I discovered that LucasFilms made them take the site down. Too bad; it was pretty funny.
