I just went off on some dumb broads on a parenting board I frequent. One of them thinks it's hilarious that her female cat is likely pregnant...AGAIN. And another member thinks her dog is, too, since she was recently in heat. Several pages of the thread and everyone thought it absolutely hilarious that her cat is so fat and fertile.
WTF is with these people?! How can anyone justify having a pet and not having it neutered, unless it is a breeding animal (and with the gross pet overpopulation I don't particularly care for the concept of breeding more, either). If it's a matter of cost, then these people cannot afford pets. Part of affording a pet is preventing litters and maintaining a pet's health. Can't afford those things, then one can't afford a pet.

| It's annoying to say the least. Unfortunately not everyone shares the same view on getting their pet fixed. With all the time I spend at the animal shelter, seeing all those misplaced pets (many were "dumped" at the front door), I wish more people would see why spaying/neutering is such a good idea. |

| OMG, I agree! I know a couple of breeders, and it makes me SO mad! There are already enough pets in the world. Why do people feel the need for purebreds? Breeding and showing is for people's benefit, not animals'. Leave the poor things alone to play and lounge and be loved! |

| Mail her $40 and tell her thats how much it costs to take it to the local shelter and get it fixed. I'm sure her vet bills during pregnancy are more than that...... |

Maybe...she is a nut. Doesn't vaccinate her kids...complains that they can't afford a second car, even though they have 4 kids and she thinks she might be pregnant with #5. I cannot relate to people like this at all. |

Many of the vaccine preventable diseases are now rare as hens' teeth because every other kid out there has been vaccinated. So her kids won't get sick because other (responsible) parents have vaccinated their kids.
Free loader.
But while they are rare, these diseases are still out there and do kill. |

We used to have snakes and my daughter really wants one now but...I hate watching the mice run around (not all that scared by the way) but you know how the story is going to end.
And snakes really are not very warm and cuddly. I mean they are cold-blooded after all |

Yep. Eryn's DH was raised Amish and I have heard the stories of the awful viruses that have returned and plagued some Amish communities (in Minnesota, I believe...?).
My sister's son is autistic, and even with all of the negative buzz surrounding vaccines (which I believe have been discounted) and autism she has said that she would not have chosen to not vaccinate. Autism's not fatal.
Perhaps if things like Smallpox and Polio returned so people could see firsthand what the results are they'd not be so quick to choose not to vaccinate. |

But they have cute faces. I think reptiles are way cool. Our county erected a long fence along both sides of a causeway that crosses the Muskegon River. They spent $250k...to protect a threatened species of turtle that was crossing the highway and getting squished. I love this county.  |
