Thanks for all the props .. especially for you OSU haters .. I know it hurts!!
Heck if not for fact that I have bled scarlett & grey since the age of six (good times in 70's when had to wait too see Buckeyes on PBS on replay at 10:30 night for those that remember the days when NCAA had limit of 2 - 3 national tv appearances per season), not sure how much a fan I would be. I think may be only guy in Ohio whom is neither a Tyrell Pryor or Lebron James fan ... No one is above the Program! Flash and Dash don't bring home the title.
I think have the thread updates / summary under control .. thanks for the patience and glad to see high # of Fall Marathon participants!!
Keep us updated on training tips, plans, etc. as 1st Summer (err Fall) Marathon only a month a way and most everyone starts getting busy in the next 12 - 18 weeks ... LETS GET READY TO RUMMMMBLE!!!!!!
Ok, yes.
Boy oh boy am I sore. Every step of my "easy" run today hurt. I was sore yesterday, too. I had to run my long run late afternoon on Sunday bc of personal obligations. Ok and maybe I ran it a little faster than my rookie legs would have liked. Maybe it's that simple eh? Oh and I have not quite started a "plan" yet. Just want to get some 40+ mile-weeks lined up. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
If we don’t try we’ll never know. At least I can find out how good I can be. I can have an answer at the end of the days, and have a hell of a good time with the process. -Desi Davila
Hey is this the place we can post training questions, too? Ok, yes. Boy oh boy am I sore. Every step of my "easy" run today hurt. I was sore yesterday, too. Take a day of two off -- let them quit hurting and continue with your training......Pretty simple to me - dont run hurt, tired or sore.
If you note on my log, there are 3 days in a row off.....Didnt want to take them but because my legs were so sore, I doot them anyway and it has made a world of difference after I quite being sore and hurting.....One of the many things I have learned is that sometimes you just cant run thru it or ignore it.....sometimes you just need a day or two off.....

BunchOChips Chicago Marathon Oct 11 Full 3:29:59 4:20:03 2 (in the 3:30's likely)
Bad experience at Chicago last year, hope to erase that from my memory this year.
Hopefully another half in there somewhere. (15k on Sept 7)
After seeing all the full Fall racing schedules made me feel whimpy and will try to get another Half in September.
Plus .... My added race is the 100th race of the thread .....Crowd goes wild! "As the 100th race entry ... Tells us we he Won Johnny!!" "Well Bob ... He has Won 1 Hour and 44 minutes of fun an excitment ... and hopefully not bloody nipples as happened last Year"
Hi BuckeyeChamp
Great to see you are starting a thread. I was injured and out with achilles injuries and I am just back out running. I also loss my job of three months and was distracted by a few issues. I will be doing the Toronto Marathon on October 17th. I was planning to do Scotia waterfront but with the set back I have to change my plan to a October run. That will give me an additionall three weeks of training.

Sore as in tired achy muscles or sore as in pain. If it is the first I say keep running but cut the miles a bit and cut the pace by at least 30-45 seconds off your easy pace. Run sloooooowwww and easy.

The year of base
Jokers Wild St Louis 7/12/09 Half 1:50:00 - 1st
First half and marathon. Base training since January but had to take 6 weeks off due to injury from April - mid May. Ran a terrible 15k last weekend in 1:25:30, however I was a little worn down from training and no sleep that week. These are stretch goals at this point, but I'm training hard to make it.
Goals: Run 1400 miles
Marathon: sub 3:45
Half marathon: sub 1:40
10K: sub 42:00
5k: sub 20:00
I'm coming off fresh from a 3:20 at the Minneapolis Marathon at the end of May, an 8 minute PR over last October's Twin Cities, so it'll be interesting seeing if I can survive the summer with all the training I need to get in!
