Yes, I do "run in this." So should you. The weather is never as bad as it seems from behind your office or car window.
Not really racing, but I am pacing a friend the last either 42 or 52 miles of the Superior Sawtooth 102 mile race from North of Two Harbors to Lutsen, MN. From a difficulty standpoint "harder" than Western States. More crawling, rocky, rooty and its hard to get a rythm when the hills are constant, but ever changing up and down.
Goal: Not to fall and to be in shape for at least 6 beers after. The 52 miles will likely take us 20 hours. My 1st section of 9 miles usually takes the winners 2:45 - lots of climbing over stuff and crawling.

I will likely be pacing for 60 miles ... still sounds like fun + my fee should go up a 6-pack.

9/9 - running the last back cove 5k race of the year in Portland, ME.
I am still 3rd in overall standings despite only having run 6 of the 17 races so far (out of 18 total.) Your 6 fastest races score, awards are on cumulative time. I haven't been to one since race #10 on July 15, despite the fact that I'm one of the sponsors for the series.
My goal is to run it in about 27 minutes. I'll be running with my wife, who hasn't run a 5k yet this year (this will probably be the only one) and it will be my first run since July when I broke my foot. I don't really care how long it takes me, actually; I just want to get 3+ miles of running in.

My father has been ill and took a sudden turn for the worse a couple of weeks ago. Spent most of the day today in the hospital. Thought he was going to die today. It's day to day. Life pretty much sucks right now. 99.9% sure that I am running this fucker, if for nothing else the therapeutic value.
For real.
It's amazing how unimportant this race has become in just a couple of short weeks, even though I have targeted this thing for over a year.
Semi-retired.
Runners run.
Hey Tim,
Running is stupid. But it can also help us out every now and then. I know it's helped me a time or two, in situations not so different from yours.
Best.
