I so love you mikey. Must be my, whatever the hell "metrosexuality" means.
Tanya drooped the nuclear awhile back. Maybe it was in what I read of her blog.
It "tickled" me I guess, and I only wanted to compliment her for her stance that I so liked hearing.Maybe you should read that zoom, and jump her, not my shit!
You know, I've really had enough. I run in a skirt because it's comfortable...
fuck you
if that makes me less of a runner. I just ran 12 miles on an injured knee, have had a couple of months of dealing with serious respiratory shit and now the knee thing--great way to kick-off marathon training, huh? I'm sure someone will tell me that I have no place running a marathon, next.
So I'm not a purist or an elite...I'm just a chubby jogger in a skirt running at a slug's pace. I guess you could mock me for being a fatty on the couch eating bon-bons, too. I can't win no matter what I do. I could wear shorts and spend my runs in pain and bleeding from severe chafing (I had issues with shorts back in HS when I weighed 110#s, too). That would probably make me a real runner.

Maybe file yer complaint with the skirt-lover who started this thread? In general I bet most of us spend aproximately zero percent of our day worrying about what other people wear. But you shove a skirt in my face and ask me what I think? I think
it looks like something that doesn't go with running
.
Yawn.
Skirts have been worn by women in tennis since day one. they've just gotten shorter and shorter. So you are used to thinking they go together. Skirts in running are fairly new, but you'll get more accustomed to them. To each their own. If you like running in a skirt have at it. If you don't like running in a skirt then don't.
If you think you are better* than someone because they are in a skirt and you aren't, you're wrong.

That's your opinion, NOT mine and never could be quoted as such.
I do feel your pain tho, I truly do. I use "BodyGlide" as well.

maybe the skirt would go nicely with my compression knee high socks and pigtails?

the swamp has been mighty touchy lately...
I say wear what makes you feel good. I feel sexy in the running skirts and so I wear the running skirts. They are comfortable for me. Someone else will feel better wearing something else and so they should wear that!

I love the compression knee highs that Paula Radcliffe wears, but they are not for me.

I just discovered the compression socks (same as Paula). But I have huge, grotesque varicose veins and my legs and feet hurt a lot. I was told a year ago to start wearing the compression socks but I poo poo'd the idea. But I tried them on at the expo on Friday and felt immediate relief. So I broke the nothing new on race day and wore them Sunday and I really feel like they made a world of difference.

I just got a little tweaked with the contempt for runners in a skirt. Running has been a boys club for most of its history and women's running apparel pretty much mimics men's wear. I've found that sheer snug fitting technical material is most ideal and comfortable for running, but overly revealing (exhibit A, my profile pic with skirt flipped up
) The running skirt is light and breezy and handles the exposure factor so I like wearing them.
It has nothing to do with being a real runner or not. You are welcome to find them ridiculous or unattractive, everyone is entitled to their opinion. But it is a fashion choice not some mark of inferiority or something.

See, I like running a whole lot but I can't say that I ever felt sexy doing it...skirt or no skirt. It's sweaty and hard work which I guess makes some peeps feel sexy... I dunno.
Ready to rumble.

Do I have an opinion on runners who wear skirts?
And here I thought the proper answer to this whole thread was GETM

Ok, enough. I am a Title 9 baby. I run in a skirt. I can easily name 3 sports where skirts are acceptable for women. If silly boy boobs don't like that, fine, but bear in mind your opinion means nothing in the long run. Now, is this worth fighting over? Hell no. But we all know zoomy likes a good fight, I guess I shall get the popcorn now. I share.
Running is like sex; the more you do the more you want.
