This thread is stupid. Obviously, there is only one type of women's running wear that really matters. This is the

Censor Bar Shorts.

CBS's are wider than they are vertical. They are black and look like a censor bar. They are far too short, on the bottom, particularly. And far too low. About 3 3/4" inches maybe? These are the best, and my pre-race hope is to have a woman faster than me run in these shorts. It has not happened. I feel certain I'd be able to follow, whatever the pace.

So, post your pics of these, as the best women's running bottoms since bare bottoms. Or else just wear sweatpants. (not that bad, for the record.) Because the CBS's are just that good.
When asked about his tortured expression during races, Emil Zatopek said, "It is not gymnastics or ice skating you know."

I thought about coming back.

After seeing this, I don't think so. Idiots.

No, let me rephrase that.

Fucking idiots.

For those people who got offended in this thread: you are beyond words. At no point was anyone singled out for ridicule. The fact that you got pissed off by anything said here shows that, no matter what any of us will say or do, you will find some way to get offended. IT'S A FUCKING MESSAGE BOARD. If you don't like someone's opinions on running skirts, DON'T FUCKING READ IT.

I can't believe that, of all the groups on this site, THIS ONE is the one that breaks down because people get offended. Yet again, I have seen why I chose to stay away.

The real reason I left had nothing to do with gas prices, or anything Marcus said. It had to do with the nasty tone that a seemingly innocent thread quickly took. The fact is, I knew people would get offended at some point. And in the GSP, we've seen what happens when they do. But here.... I never expected it here. And the way people have been treating others is just beyond me. Well, I've had it. Candice may say some things that aren't real dumb, just like the rest of us. This doesn't mean she needs to be attacked personally, and by a group of people. At least she apologized and tried to make right, which is more than can be said for others.

Honestly, you people need to look to yourselves first and think about why you're offended before you say something. Because getting all pissed off on here does absolutely nothing but ruin everyone's good time. And if you find yourself consistently offended, maybe the best solution is to leave. Perhaps the problem isn't the group, but rather your membership.

That's it, I've said my piece. Luck in running to all of you. You will, however, forgive me my lack of presence from here on out.

No mikeymike, not for real. Those mid-calf flared yoga pants are the real enemy. I think we can all agree to despise those. Big grin

((Scout7)) I am sorry that tempers flared. And I am sorry that you are offended. Please come back.

Sigh.

Yep.

Two people just e-mailed me to check out this stupidity. Which I never would have done, because normal heterosexual men don't read threads about skirts. So, obviously, right off the bat you're all pretty gay. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Then I read this crap, and had to decide whether to slit my wrists, put my foot through the monitor, or just laugh at the stupid. Jesus, of course, is busy weeping at it. And shopping for skirts.

There's not much need to respond because Scout said it all. When you wonder why some of us get annoyed at this place, this thread pretty much sums it up. It's perfect. All its really missing is some sophomoric, overly simplistic political crap. Somebody toss in a chimp joke or a blue dress joke, maybe call Obama a communist or Bush a Nazi. Then you'd have achieved the pinnacle of stupid. Which some of you seem desperately determined to do.

And for the record, its always the same people. Always. People who just have to have opinions on every frickin' subject under the sun, no matter how ill-informed or stupid the opinions are. They just have to share them, no matter how narrow minded or divisive or useless or off-topic.

But - and wait for it, because here's the really good part! - its those SAME exact people who, whenever anyone offers another opinion, they immediately get their panties (presumably under a skirt) in a bunch.

The hypersensitivity and insecurity - MASSIVE insecurity - is just enormous. And annoyingly stupid. And astoundingly hypocritical.

Particularly annoying is the tendency of these folks to gang up in little cliques and attack - personally - other posters. That's cowardly. And childish.

This thread is only unusual because it's in the Swamp of all places.

Hey, at least its funny. Because here opinions were actually ASKED for ... and then when they were offered, you krazy kats went and got offended. In the future, if you want opinions that match yours, just say so.

After all, that's how most of the Internet is, right? That's why most of you run off to your little groupthink echo chambers and repeat the same opinions to each other, right? You can back to your groups or your blogs or your websites, and tell each other how darn smart you are for having the same opinions on politics or religion or cars or the environment or whatever floats your boat.

And you can talk about those dumb mean people with differing opinions.

Especially those stupid, elitist bastards who think running skirts are lame.

Sigh.

The irony of it all is that you're the same people who like words like "diversity." Well, right here you've got it, baby.Diversity in action. Some people don't like running skirts. That's just life. Yet it sends you into a tizzy of self-righteous foaming anger.

Bottom line, one last time: this is a pretty cool place, and the Swamp is the coolest of the cool. Yet some of you work desperately hard to turn the whole shebang into every other place on the Internet.

And since the Internet sucks, that sucks, and you suck. Those of us who know this, can't hang for long. Because if we want stupid, we can just go elsewhere.

I love you guys. But get a fucking clue, mmm-kay.

Not everybody has to think your running skirt is cool. It's okay. Really. You'll live.

Scout, good post. Another way of looking at what you are saying is to ask ourselves, "why do we waiste so much time (or not so much time) reading and posting in the swamp. For me, and most others I would think, it is the desire to be part of a shared community. We have a shared interest, and all have a slightly warped sense of humor. As part of that community, we all want to feel accepted and safe. (Stay with me here - I'm getting Jeff-like and trying to actually use my brain) When some have perceived a comment as elitist-prickishy, their sense of acceptance may have wained, thus the emotional response. I think what Scout is saying is, why dig the hole deeper? The sense of community begins to disappear, then the reason we are all here begins to disappear. Maybe we should ask Eric to add a private message feature. Then we could fight in private without pissing on the whole group.

Anyway, the community thing seems to make sense to me. I lurked in the weeds for a year before JK urged me to come out and play. When I did, I didn't feel accepted by some. (probably because stupid comments deserve no response) My first reaction was to leave the group and move on. Then a bunch of you got all excited about someone's accomplishment in a race and the sense of community drew me back.

Scout, I hope the good mojo in the swamp improves to the point where you will return. I hope the rest of us can improve our "community." Now, do I sound like Mr. Rogers and Rodney King wrapped together? We just need to do what JK told me when I de-lurked. He said, "welcome, now shut up and run more, you pansy!"
