Yep, I told the man to stick it today. I left a great salary, job security, and decent benefits with no job lined up and one client.
I got tired of working to make other people rich and having to deal with their bullshit on top of it. Fuck that noise.
Looks like solo practice is in my future.
Just thought I'd share.

good luck Marcus!! My BIL is a lawyer in Fla and recently did the same thing. Although I'm guessing you (hopefully) have less debt and more savings than he had.

Wait a minute...this sounds familiar. Did you promise to show anyone the money?

Thanks y'all. Long story short, I went into law to help people, got lost along the way and ended up working for the man (big business). After meeting an immigration attorney at a social event a month ago it hit me hard that I don't make anyone's life better as an attorney. I protect bottom lines and that sucks.
Fortunately I have been smart and kept from getting financially locked into a job where I couldn't quit. In other words I have stayed frugal and have not ran up tons of debt buying tons of shit I don't need.
So, I have access to some money if I want it and may go into solo practice. But I am exploring my options right now. Whatever I end up doing will be on my terms which is how I want it. I didn't go through the military and a decade of higher education so people could tell me how much I was going to make a year.
Fortunately having a law license makes it fairly easy to go into business for yourself.

That is really cool. I hope you find what you're looking for.
And I hope that I have the courage to do the same when the time comes for me to graduate to the next step. You're a friggin role model
