2000 miles of shots in the ass

2012 racing -- get fired up (Read 1102 times)

    It's goal-setting time.

    Magadalena Boulet:

    I hear from younger people, maybe just out of college, “I feel this or that, it’s so much harder,” and I think, “It’s way, way too early for that.” Don’t use that excuse. There were times in my running career when things got really hard and I was ready to say, “This is it, my body isn’t responding to this any more,” and if I really followed up on those things, I wouldn’t have run 2:26, I wouldn’t have run my 5K PR, and I’d have such regrets. That’s not how I want to live.

      I ran 6 PRs in 2011.

      2012 goals:

      < 2:55 marathon

      sub-24 at Western States 100

      ???

      "When I got too tired to run anymore I just pretended I wasn't tired and kept running anyway" -- Ennay's 7-year-old daughter

        I have used my new outlook on running and life to get soft.  I need to do what many people do here - Train as smart and hard as I can within the limitations that I set for myself - Which I believe is 250 - 300 MPM.

        I am a weak person to start, because my goals are soft this year

        *  Run > 3,000 miles - Yes mileage is my 1st goal

        *  Break 3 hours in a marathon (8th  consecutive year)

        *  Run Monkey

        *  Get revenge on DWD 50k (The one that broke my arm - Something I will be limited by forever - At least my non-running activities)

        *  Break 18 in a 5k

        *  Break 30 in a 5 miler

        *  Break 37 in a 10k

        *  Run a 24 hour race - With everything I have the whole 24

        *  Run a 100 Mile race - Fun - But finish damit!

        Other

        *  Play racketball with DD#1 > 20 times with my friends > 50 times

        *  Golf > 10 times

        *  Boat > 20 times / wakeboard > 20 times

        *  Downhill ski > 8 times

        *  Tennis with Family > 10 times

        *  Family bike ride > 25 times

        *  Volleyball > 12 times

        *  Camp >= 2 times

        *  CC Ski > 10 times (Need some damn snow)

        *  Snow Shoe > 10 times (See CC Ski)

        Finally

        *  De-fat by 6/1/2012

        *  Volunteer or crew at atleast 3 ultras

          Nice read, she's amazing. I need to be more like her in the eating department.

          One nice thing about taking up running mid-life is that you get to enjoy improvement in your older years. What a kick!

          Similar to bhearn, I had four PRs this year, and dabbled in ultrarunning. I placed third in the Master's women's division in our local racing series without bothering to run in half the events. I failed to make my stupid yearly mileage goal but there are other activities that I enjoy (backpacking and motorcycle travel being the two that take away the most from running).

          This year's goal is to put together a respectable marathon, starting with Boston. Even though I've BQ'd, it was a rotten day and I toed the line overtrained and feeling like crap.

                    Hey Tanya, what does your ass do to celebrate New Year's Eve?

                    It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

                      Gets drunk off its ass, makes an ass of itself, and wakes up feeling like ass. Duh.
