Spoiler ahead if you haven't watched:

    Mary Cain!

Holy crap. She just OBLITERATED the women's field. The race itself was whacky (2:55 first half mile) but the last lap was 59 seconds, and she effortlessly opened up at least a 10m gap on the last lap.

    Crazy.

They say golf is like life, but don't believe them. Golf is more complicated than that. "If I am still standing at the end of the race, hit me with a Board and knock me down, because that means I didn't run hard enough" If a lot of people gripped a knife and fork the way they do a golf club, they'd starve to death. "Don't fear moving slowly forward...fear standing still."

Didn't see it, but here's a nice write-up of the race on letsrun. Impressive, really impressive.

        Hey I’m a kicker.

Ya think?  She's got some kinda poise for a high school kid, she's got the world on string right now.

        Fast is better than long

I really liked that iterview. You can see she still has the excitement and naivty of a child. But she knos what she's good at, has a coach she trusts and seems to really be focused on a long term career. Hey, I'm a kicker was precious and the way she said it. Then the faux train at the end Wink

          What in the Jehu?

Look at this face. No pain, no strain. Just calculation and confidence.  This is a special kid.

The women's masters 3000 race went through the 800 mark faster than Mary Cain.

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.
