Running Your Age (Read 538 times)

Alive & Running

So last year I attempted to run my age on my birthday and fell short by 5 miles (only hit 33 miles).  This year I was bound and determined to suck it up and run the entire 39 miles and thankfully I was able to do it yesterday.  Sore and a little fatigued still but feeling pretty good.

Does anyone else here do the run your age on your birthday thing?  Seemed like a good way to kick off the New Year. Also gave me carte blanch to down a 6 pack of Bell's Two Hearted Ale without feeling guilty.  Big grin

MTA:  You must run your physical age, not your maturity age.  If that was an option I'd have been done at 12 miles.

      Fuck no.

      Runners run.

        Fuck no.

This but I'd be willing to try it by yards.

Oh...that is a good idea.  I briefly thought maybe km's but that would mean I am already up to a marathon which I try to avoid unless they have appropriate swag.

Maybe I'll try to commit to running my age in a week.  That might work. for a few more years anyway

That is what I did. 41 minutes at tempo. It kind of felt like an accomplishment, sort of.

Good times never seemed so good.

Actually, you have to run an extra mile. To grow on.

                      Was it all a dream?

It should be noted that it was snowing and terribly effing cold around these parts yesterday.  If the 39mi wasn't impressive, the fact you still have functional fingers after 5 hours of running in the single digits (no pun intended) certainly is.

To the original question, I lost the desire to run my age a couple years ago.

I'm in the business of misery...

I might run 52 kilometers next month.

                          Oh, wait a minute. No I won't.

Done it; still easy though.  This year I am going to do it the day after my birthday to join it with a marathon.  I have ran with friends in their 40's doing it, too.

At some point I must imagine it gets more and more impractical...

I ran double my age on last year's birthday (turned 48, ran 101).
