SELFISH, like you.
How many half marathons can LA have or is this a repeat of last weeks thread?
Might as well put me down for that Disney half in Florida this Saturday. Goal is to PR, so better than 1:22:52. Big problem is that some say my PR is on a short course.
Los Angeles is a huge place....with a bazillion people. The trouble is picking what races NOT to do!
Bandera 100k Bandera (Hill Country) Texas Goal: sub 13
My recovery from Desert Solstice has been comically bad (as has been my mileage since then). I probably shouldn't do this, but it is my favorite race. I can't pass it up. This is a super hilly, rocky race, so the goal looks slow. It draws a super competitive field because it is a Montrail Ultra Cup race, but it also doubles as the 100k Trail Nat'l Championship, so the second goal is to crack the top ten.

Disney Full this Sunday. 1/13
Was really really really hoping for sub 3:40. Going to be warm so might have to strive for sub 3:45. Either way I want a PR. (current old as dirt PR 3:53 from 2 years ago) Okay hell, Put me down for sub 3:40.
2013 Goals: Stay healthy and Sub 3:30. PR HM, 10K, 5K...etc....lose 5 lbs, get Michelle Obama arms.
Wilmington (post 2008) is short but it's not fast.
Runners run.
HobbyJogger & HobbyRacer

It's an infestation...
It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.
Fast is better than long

That cat ran 12 of them last year alone, and I don't know if she logs all races as such.
I had the same thought last year when for a while she listed a 1/2 on every consecutive week of the racing thread.
2013 Goals: 2500 miles / 2:45 marathon? / sub 2 800m / 4:30 mile / sub 16 5K / sub hour 10 miles
Give a man a fire and he'll be warm the rest of the night;Set a man afire and he'll be warm the rest of his life.
What in the Jehu?
My running club gives Grand Prix points for racing and placing in AG. I get greedy for points.
Well, since I have a short season this year...
Bowdoin 5-Way Meet 1/12
3000
Goal: Top half on my team (We have six runners and I'm seeded 3rd, but 6th is only three seconds back.)
Break 9:30.
It's at the end of the meet, so lots and lots of sitting around time beforehand. Also, my screenname will probably change because it will no longer be true at the end of the meet...
Frozen Gnome 50K. 1/13. Goal finish in the top 3. Time prediction will be a swag because conditions are probably going to be a mess. The ground has been frozen since December, but then it thawed yesterday, rained the last two days and is supposed to freeze and snow tonight. But we'll say 4:35 just for kicks.
2013 Goals: Run trails.
It was rough today with 62 degrees and 96% humidity (fog). I didn't know you could see your breath with temps this high. Starting at 5:35 sucked too but racing in the dark, dark fog was very surreal and I enjoyed that rare experience.
Clearly I'm some sort of old school runner because I could have done without all the excitement, especially the Magic Kingdom. It broke my rhythm. Just give me a few people to run with down a quiet country road and I'm all set. All I want to hear are foot falls and others working hard around me. That said, I'd do this again but am even less interested in trying that overpriced rock and roll stuff.
After about mile 7 the humidity started to catch up with me and it was a matter of finding that fine line. I had to back off about 5 seconds a mile instead of picking it up the 2-3 I had hoped. Still, I was passing runners all the way to the finish. I know I laid it all out when I tried to sprint at the end and did some bizarre funky chicken dance instead. I hear there is video of this.
I had hoped for top 100 and ended up 53rd out of 23 thousand something and finished ninth in my age group. Final time was 1:23:53.
I didn't hit my goal but did pretty ok regardless. My "PR" half in 2010 only registered 13.0 on my Garmin. Today I went through 13.0 on my Garmin about 15 seconds faster and it read 13.24 at the finish. I probably could have run the tangents a little better, I guess. I think it's possible I ran this race faster than my PR ... Damn you non certified courses!!!
I'll keep at it. Eventually I'll have good conditions and get a half PR on a certified course.
I was first at something today… It turns out they started serving beer at 7 am and I finished at 6:57 then walked right over and bought one.
X - sounds like some damn good work in weird / tough conditions. Nicely done.
And please share video when you find it!
But Och! I backward cast my e'e, On prospects drear! An' forward, tho' I canna see, I guess an' fear!
