Prince of Fatness

I have lived in snowy places.  The 4-8 inches here is far tougher than the 2 feet in Chicago because Nahville does nothing to clear it and Nashville drivers who have no business attempting to drive in this, go out and drive ~2 mph and slow down whenever they get more scared.  Chicago clears the roads and folks know how to drive on the packed snow and ice so it is all much safer.  I was in Boston 2 weeks ago; they got 6 " of snow overnight and the next day the roads were clear and the drivers solid.

Dude, there are stupid drivers everywhere,  And as Ennay said it's all about stopping.  You get going too fast in the snow and you're screwed.  I'm amazed every time it snows here there are SUV's  driving down the interstate 70 mph.  They don't get it.  Guess what cars are always in the ditches after a storm.  Yep, SUV's.

There is a long dark road ahead of me.

    We've Got Big Hills

True dat.  But around here, the folks go too slowly in the snow.  They get no traction, no momentum.  And then they get stuck, wheels a spinning.  If you are unfortunate enough to have been behind them, your wheels will spin too.

I'm running somewhere tomorrow. It's going to be beautiful. I can't wait.

      Poor baby

The point is: it's not (just) the drivers. It's the roads. Yes, they really are bad, even though we got 4 inches of snow 48+ hours ago.

I can't argue with that.  Slow is good when going down hills, or even on a level.  But when you are going up hill you need to attack.  If you start to slide you can ease off and be OK.  I can manage in the snow but everyone else needs to stay the hell home.

Slow 'round here = 3 MPH.  I am not kidding.  That is never warranted.

I believe you, because there are people like that here.

Are we talking about road races here, or trail races?

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

2 runs, 2 days, 2 cars pushed out of ditches.

yesterday, me and EK pushed a car out of a ditch near the steeplechase, and today me, ted, and some guy on a bike pushed a car out of a ditch at the bottom of 4 mile hill.  stupid people need to stay out of Monkeyville.

maybe i need to stay out of Monkeyville, but that aint going to happen.

Well, to be fair, Nashville has only 30 plows for 5000 miles of road. Not to take away from the fact, however, that TDOT blows.

Have they actually been using those plows?

Having the plows is one thing. But then you need funds in the budget for actually using them.

                                The process is the goal.
