...my goal for the track 5000M the day after tomorrow is 18:30 paced with running buddy, switching at 800s. (This isn't a tough enough goal to be 8-ball worthy, but I'll still be anxious, I'm sure.)

Yea, I'd say use that 800m as the opening split and then hang on from there. So, since you'll be banking time going out that fast...16:30.

I will after my run tonight. Not sure what kind of 5k shape I'm in tonight so I figure I'll have more of an idea after tonight's run. I plan on running a mile at 5k effort .

Ok 5k goal is going to be 22:40. That's a stretch goal considering the heat, health issue's and the fact that I'm not trained for the "speed" right now. I signed up on a whim since I have to be at the race for a Relay meeting. I'll post my goal for my legs of relay either tomorrow night after I get home or first thing Thursday
