It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

Despite not being in speed shape this year (after last week I now have two non-race weeks over 30 miles!) I still want to continue my unbeaten streak on this course. I've won it all 3 years the race has been in existance, usually in about 41 minutes although last year I ran it in 39:29 but the course had a small change that won't be there anymore. The time doesn't matter, though, as long as I stay ahead of everybody else. It's a fun race out at Bradbury Mountain, and while I don't expect to win the series again (the second race is a week after my first 100 miler) I'd still like to get out to a strong lead.

Yes, I do "run in this." So should you. The weather is never as bad as it seems from behind your office or car window.

I have no idea what the course is like, so this might be unrealistic.
Do what you want, just how you like. Nobody has to know.

Ran a 5:52.1. Came out a bit fast and hung on, but I guess that's how it should go. Seems to be about what I expected to run. I forgot how much fun track meets can be.
11:00.4. 11sec PR I think. I have a new least favorite part of a race -- lap 5 of the 3200. I really wanted to quit at that point. 5:35 at the half, so negative split.

It it going to be problematic to get out? Will you have to sneak over a wall at night?
Track meet tonight: either I'll run the 5000 all-out, and try to PR (<18:10), or more likely, I'll chicken out of that, and go for an easy 1500 PR (<5:30).
