2000 miles of glute weakness

MLB 2012 (Read 857 times)

I don't think winning ruined everything. It did come with a price. But the real problem - and the Yankees went through this too at one point - is a reliance on free agents because the farm system isn't producing. Fans like home-grown talent. I know I do. Pedroia, Youk, Ellsbury, Lester, Papelbon. Or gritty free agents or castoffs that turn their careers around - Bill Mueller, Kevin Millar, Papi.  They cut their teeth with the organization,  are grateful for a chance and are just hungrier.

Die-hards don't root for laundry. Maybe it will change with some youngsters like Lavarnway, Middlebrooks, Igelsias. The current roster is old and stale and don't seem to care much. I'd happily lose more games if they would trade Beckett for a bag of balls and let Felix Doubront and some others take their lumps while giving a shit.

Yeah, and, by the way, don't sleep on Doubront.

That's why were committed to not winning, here on the North Side.

Still the most fun I've ever had at a major league baseball game.

I take this to mean you've been to Wrigley Field? Lucky duck.

I take this to mean you've been to Wrigley Field? Lucky duck.

Yes, I just happened to be in town for a trade show and a vendor took me to the first ever Red Sox game at Wrigley Field. Gred Maddux hit a home run in a 14-6 blowout Cubs win. Did the Murphy's thing and had a blast. That was 2005.

2011 - Scored tickets through work lottery for the Cubs first game at Fenway since 1918 World Series. Sox won 15-5. Karma's a bitch.

Yeah, lucky duck. I did get to the New Yankee stadium last summer - again it was the Red Sox and a vendor paying for it - but I felt like I was in a mall. Made it to Shea to see David Cone pitch in 1991(?) when I lived in Queens. That was pretty cool.

Yeah, 1991, about five years after he came from Kansas Ci -

            Lank...?

What a strange phenomenon with the Sox.  It's been discussed ad nauseum but it's like winning ruined everything, particularly for people who were lifelong fans.

It sure didn't ruin anything for me.  I think winning just let us be like regular baseball fans.  We can now chose not to live and die with every pitch, or not really care that much if the team is not that likable or not playing that well.

I remember in bout '06 during the height of the bandwagon rush saying to a buddy of mine that I wouldn't mind if the Sox went ahead and sucked for a year or two to shake out all the bandwagon fans and make it so you could actually get a ticket to a game without taking out a 2nd mortgage.

I have yet to watch a game this season.  Or even baseball tonight.  What is wrong with me?

I have become Death, the destroyer of electronic gadgets

You are suffering from subconscious angst, tormented and unwilling to confront evidence that the members of your fantasy team, in fact, play for different teams.

I say this because I care.  You and I know what the first step to recovery is.

I have different reasons for doing the same. Or not.

We just got NESN. So, between that and the YES network, I get to watch 38 Oriole losses on television this year, instead of my typical 19. Whoo hoo!

                              Hello friends.

I'm sorry I'm late but it wouldn't be the same unless I spread my infinite knowledge of baseball to the masses.  Not to toot my own horn but I believe my only incorrect preseason prediction of the last four years has been the Cubs two years ago.  To give myself even more credibility and to prove I belong amongst you pencil-necks, I even went "running" today.

AL East - New York Yankees.

                              AL Central - Detroit Tigers.

                              AL West - Texas Rangers

Wild Card #1 - Tampa Bay Rays

Wild Card #2 - Los Angeles Angles of Anaheim

                              NL East - Atlanta Braves

NL Central - Saint Louis Cardinals

NL West - San Francisco Giants

Wild Card #1 - Los Angeles Dodgers

Wild Card #2 - Philadelphia Phillies

A few notes from the early season:

Matt Kemp has more home runs than the Pirates, Phillies, Nationals and Cubs.

Mitch Maier was the only KC pitcher to not allow any runs yesterday.  He started the game as the center fielder.

I finally saw the Miami Marlins home run festiva.  I'm in the minority but I thought it was phenomenal.

I hope that everyone is great and can enjoy the season.  PLAY BALL!!
