Like the sun rising, the tides turning, nature awakening from its winter slumber.....it's a great comfort to know that even as things change there are certain constants in one's life.  Thank you Ilene.

But who is the lucky guy?  Do we know him?  Remember to use protection.

            Hello friends.

I'm sorry I'm late but it wouldn't be the same unless I spread my infinite knowledge of baseball to the masses.  Not to toot my own horn but I believe my only incorrect preseason prediction of the last four years has been the Cubs two years ago.  To give myself even more credibility and to prove I belong amongst you pencil-necks, I even went "running" today.

AL East - New York Yankees.

            AL Central - Detroit Tigers.

            AL West - Texas Rangers

Wild Card #1 - Tampa Bay Rays

Wild Card #2 - Los Angeles Angles of Anaheim

            NL East - Atlanta Braves

NL Central - Saint Louis Cardinals

NL West - San Francisco Giants

Wild Card #1 - Los Angeles Dodgers

Wild Card #2 - Philadelphia Phillies

A few notes from the early season:

Matt Kemp has more home runs than the Pirates, Phillies, Nationals and Cubs.

Mitch Maier was the only KC pitcher to not allow any runs yesterday.  He started the game as the center fielder.

I finally saw the Miami Marlins home run festiva.  I'm in the minority but I thought it was phenomenal.

I hope that everyone is great and can enjoy the season.  PLAY BALL!!

David Wright went 3/4 with a broken finger.

Duda hits insanely-hard line-drive home runs. You know who used to do that?  Yep, Gary "The Kid" Carter! It's gonna be a glorious season!

Prince Fielder has more stolen bases than Albert Pujols has home runs.

Cliff Lee threw 10 shutout innings yesterday.  He did not win.

Bartolo Colon threw 38 consecutive strikes and, for the record, pitch #39 should have been a strike.

The Baltimore Orioles are in sole possession of first-place in the AL East.

Jamie Moyer's first career game was against Steve Carlton.  Steve Carlton turns 68 years old this December.

Jordan Zimmermann has thrown 21 innings over his 3 starts compiling a 1.29 ERA and a 0.71 WHIP.  He has not won any game this season.

                  You had me at "Hello".

                  Runners run.

and the Nationals are in first place in NL East by 2.5 games.

Also, the other night I went to my first MLB game of the season where I got to see the defending AL Champion Texas Rangers utterly put the boots to Red Sox.  18-3, wow.

Josh Hamilton had a good night, going 3 for 5 with 5 RBI and a really sweet outfield assist taking a wall ball off the monster and throwing out the batter at 2nd.  This isn't that play but it shows how close I was sitting to Hamilton, who was playing Left that night.

And it was a nice night to be outside.  It may be a tough year for the Sox but that will mean good seats should come available during the summer months.

                      Runners run.

I still havent watched any baseball this year.  Wrong wrong wrong.

I still haven't see a single inning either. whatever whatever whatever.

Just because running is simple does not mean it is easy.

Prince Fielder has more stolen bases than Albert Pujols has home runs.

Over those 10 innings Lee threw 105 pitches, 81 were strikes.  Goodness.

And it probably took him <50 minutes in real time.

And just won again this afternoon, so at least one more glorious day of "pulling a Glenn Randall".

And, they lead the AL in striking out, doing it 11 more times today.
