Blaine Moore
I am currently on page 4 page 5 of the YTD distance list.
Other than on the 1st (which was a special occasion) I've basically run only what I needed to for that day.
Well, starting tomorrow, what I need to run is going to start bringing me closer to the bunny again, and within a few days I'll have caught him. In fact, it'll happen by this weekend.
Then all I need to do is stay healthy enough through the end of the month to not have to stop running, since the mileage is going to get piled on going forward.
6 miles tomorrow, 7 the day after, 8 on Friday, 9 and 10 on Saturday and Sunday, and so on up to the 31st.
Whoo boy. Fun part's only a few days away now...recovery week is about to be over.
By the way...who wants to set the over under on how many miles I actually make it? (The goal is 500 miles by the end of the month.)

Should be set at 500.
I will take 510.
It will hurt you - no question. But good cause. Plus you have the ability and background to pull this mother fucker off.
Go for it.
Good luck on the quest Blaine.
Just curious about how you plan on completing the longer days, in 1 run or multiple runs. The 90 miles over the last 3 days after having run 400 miles the previous month could be interesting.
Thanks for the vote of confidence, Purdey!
I will note: I'm not looking to go as far over 500 as possible - just to reach 500.
By doing the 1 more mile challenge exactly on, I'd run 490 miles, and between the extra 5+ miles on the 1st of the month plus the little bits of a mile that will accumulate throughout the month (a tenth here, half mile there) I expect it to get to the 500 I set as the actual goal.
That said, if I'm 20 miles over pace and still have 31 miles to do the last day, then I'll definitely wind up at the 510.
All I gotta do is not get sick or injured along the way...or get completely snowed under in a blizzard, not that that ever happens here...
I just promised to do some extra work for somebody just to get them to go away. Working in a non-ventilated windowless room all day is bad enough; when somebody that should have stayed home from work decides to come hang out with us I get annoyed. Mild rant.
And Shashi: Once the days start adding up, it'll be multiple runs. I'm going to do the bulk before work when there's light, maybe get a few miles hiked at lunch, and then finish whatever is left in the evening if necessary. Also counting any pedestrian pursuits that I measure, such as snowshoeing (which I did for my 3 mile day.)
I'll see your 510, and raise you to 515.

That a Month ... Not a Year Nader
Hey, nice marmot!
I'm very interested to see how you do with this. I agree with Purdey that you're one of the few people here who could do such a thing. Whether you will do it is another story. The end of the month is going to be brutal. 11 days in a row at 20+ miles/day. Even splitting it into doubles will probably make you feel like you're running all the time (since you will be). Well, as the great Lao Tzu once noted: "Better you than me".
Best of luck.
fu don't kung think

Ha. +1.
I vote for triples.
I'll be watching.
Hometown AG win.
I'm not a betting man, but good luck.
Do you have a flexible job or something to allow you the monster end of month runs?
Under the best of conditions that is one helluva daunting task. Giving it a go during January in Maine just adds to the difficulty factor. I know you will bring your A game, hope it's enough to get to 500.
Best of luck Blaine!

You see what Thunder did there? He thinks his method of pissing people off to reach their goals works
Best of luck Blaine. I don't think you'll have a problem reaching your goal at all.
Didn't help you beat me on the YTD board in 2009!
