How to find time for sex and sleep. In that order.   Hence why you need to find a good moms group.  Now I just forgo sleep.

Yeah, get your wife into a good mom's group....then you can go running because she won't need you for sex.

Have you ever had one of those runs where every step you take feels great and you feel better on your last mile than on your first.  Yeah, well that was me this morning.  It feels so good to run again, why I haven't been doing this over the last 20 years is beyond me.  God I love to run!!!

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

            Amen!

I think that the secret is going to be getting as much in before work as possible so that I have single digit (preferably low single digit) miles left in the evening.  Sitting in a windowless and ventilationless room all day isn't doing good things to my legs...they're sore in the evenings. (I'm sure it has little to do with the running.)

To that end I got 12 miles in this morning, and will probably get 2 or 3 in at lunch time.  I'll be doing hill repeats tonight with the folks I coach which is good for around 4 miles total, so if I get a little time to get out and run before the workout then I might even manage to not have any extra to do after they all finish (although I'll probably still have a mile or 3.)

And...I'm only a few miles away from hitting my highest mileage week ever (using the rolling 7 day average, obviously, and not just the miles run since Monday.)  Starting tomorrow I'll be adding 7 more miles to that max total each day.

I wouldn't worry too much about hitting your highest mileage 7 days -- I predict this coming week will crush your highest mileage week...

Every day I finish can't help but raise it another 7 miles.  I'm now up to 141 miles.  I know there's some people that run more than that, but even in college that's a lot more than I've ever done.

I spent almost all afternoon napping.  It's too bad I can't do that most of the week.

You must be getting weary, Blaine.  I hope you have a light week at work this week.
Good luck. It's gonna get real this week.

Ha ha ha!  That made me laugh.  Sorry.

When I got a bad case of bronchitis a few weeks before this whole thing started, I took most of a week off from work.  When I got back, I discovered that they'd laid off 1 of the IT guys (technically the manager but htey never let him actually be one) so now the department is 25% smaller than it was with the same workload and no more gate keeper to keep folks from interupting us every 5 minutes.

Oh, yeah, they also switched me from salaried to hourly for some reason, which was interesting.  Since then, the only weeks I haven't gotten overtime was because I took vacation days which means no overtime even if I'm technically over the 40 hours.

When I told my bosses about the challenge, they very quickly changed the subject.  When I asked for a bit of extra time for lunch one day when a reporter was coming in to interview me (and could have resulted in some nice free advertising for them) they decided the wiser course would be to just not give me a reply.

So yeah...not expecting a light week at work this week.  I'm going to try to work fewer than 45 hours and hopefully won't have to start any more of my runs at 8 pm.

And yes, by the way, I'm starting to get a wee bit weary, but other than last Monday night I've at least still been having fun on my runs.  Tough to get out the door but once I'm out there I've been pretty good.

I don't get it?  Why wouldn't I use them in the Winter?  (Still a bit tired - although the 3 hour nap today was nice. Wish I had that opportunity during the week.)
