    3 hour nap

i had a very serious 1 hour nap today. i mean a got-back-into-bed type nap. it was brilliant.

hang in there, blaine. you can do this thing, and i believe you will.

if you don't run, you'll rust. [tom petty] ..... i just wanna get back on track, even if it kills me. [motion city soundtrack] ..... if i only could be running up that hill, with no problems. if only i could, be running up that hill. [kate bush] ..... still running in place [alkaline trio] ..... at least i'll try and run, and run tonight, everything will be alright [the killers] ..... don't give up the distance. [flavio the magnificent]

This is one of the best things about running, that it helps accomplish this Smile

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

Not looking too good for the good guys.

Went to bed with some slight knee pain, woke up with slightly more.

Spent my breakfast and a bit more trying to decide if I was going to run on it or not and decided to give it a 10 minute test to see if it felt better or worse when running.

Had to cut the run short more because of conditions not being safe than because of the knee, which didn't feel any better running but wasn't much worse when I wasn't slipping and sliding on the black ice.

I'm hoping that I feel fine after another 8 or 9 hours of not running on it so that I can get in the last 23 1/3 miles after work tonight (not planning on running at lunch time.)

Did you think it was not going to hurt ?

            Dont be a bitch. Run.

Good luck.  That's a real bummer when you're trying to hold that much mileage and you have to miss a run or cut one short.  Makes the evening run oh-so-much-fun.

                  That's  the plan.

I have to wait to try to get it all in after work tonight though since I wasn't able to this morning.

However, I'm not taking (basically) half the year off from injury like I did last year (the half I spent training for this, actually...)

                  Should be interesting tonight.

Looking at your task in 12-hour cycles (p.m. - a.m. - p.m. - a.m.), you got about 36 hours to get the next two days of miles - about 50 miles.

Yeah. Remember that our gender -- and members of our hobby/passion in general -- have rather damaged judgment ability about when to stop. Is that 2mi, 10mi, 20mi,  25mi, really worth 4 months of injury?

(And I'm one to talk; I suspect that running 2.5mi after spraining my ankle didn't do anything positive for the length of recovery in front of me.)

And I'm climbing a stairway to heaven...  Keep it up man!

Our 6 month old is a terrible sleeper.  We start trying to put him down about 7:30PM and usually succeed by 8 or 8:30.  On week nights, I'll then immediately get my running stuff ready for the morning and get into bed as soon as I can.  If I can get to sleep by 9:30, I have 8 hours before my alarm goes off.  If I'm really lucky, he'll only wake up 3 or 4 times in between and I might get 6-7 hours sleep.

At 5:30 I'm up and out by around 6.  8 miles gets me to the office by 7:30.  I get home by 7:00 and it all begins again.  This works, just about, for now.

However, this weekend we're moving house - I'm going to be 24 miles from the office!  I guess this means I'm either going to have to figure something else out, probably involving getting up earlier.  Bleurgh.

Oh, and my wife needs to join a Mum's group .

MTA:  Ah, I'm replying a post at the top of the last page.  Must sleep more.  Carry on.
