Showing the Bunny What-For... (Read 1645 times)

Oh I don't care, i'm just rambling about pointless shit because i'm putting off running outside because it hurts to move. I'm telling myself i'm digesting lunch.

I hurt my rib coughing I guess. I've had bronchitis for a few weeks. Or if it's not a hurt rib then I guess the bronchitis turned into pneumonia. I don't feel sick anymore. It just hurts to make sudden movements.

I ran a mile and I liked it, liked it, liked it.

Wasn't there a thread in the GSP about logging trips to the bathroom?  Nobby even participated...

I'm running somewhere tomorrow. It's going to be beautiful. I can't wait.

I just had a nice logging trip to the bathroom thank you very much.

What? We're logging hikes and walks? When did this happen? If it happened in this thread, tl;dr.

I could have hit 3000 in '09 if I'd known this.

              I hate this place.

Are those age graded miles, and is there a multiplier for using a walker?

              What does Tunis make?

How is 24 the double of 14?

Go outside and  run 14 miles in -20, and after that, you won't ask questions like this.

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

                What does Tunis make?

And by the way, it's warmer than -20 in Fairbanks right now. But I still wouldn't run there.

I don't count random walking distance, just hiking type miles that is part of my training.  *shrug*  The majority will be running. Besides, now that it's double digits, I don't have time to walk many of the miles anyway.  I work 45 hours a week, I coach, and I have my info-publishing business that I need to keep running on top of running all the miles and promoting the challenge.

Walking??  I consider this a fail already then given what the challenge was originally posted as.

If this were part of the challenge it should have been disclosed prior to our voting on how far you'd get.  Runners don't typically log walking mileage as part of "training".  You can do the challenge either way but it's two different animals.  I used to talk 2-3 miles/day 5 days/wk as part of my commute, it would have been nice padding on triple digit weeks but it's not recorded.  If walking counts why not wear a pedometer and log everything?

Funny you should say that...one of these days I want to gallo-walk a marathon to see if I can set a PR that way.

If I walk for 26 miles 385 yards, I'll still be tired and sore the next day, probably more so than had I run it.  It takes a lot longer.  Some of the athletes I coach do a fair amount of walking as part of their training.  If I were to ignore that walking when helping them schedule their workouts then I would be doing them a disservice and I'd increase their risk of getting injured.

Walking was allowed in the original challenge, walking is allowed during races, walking is going to be allowed during this challenge too.  If a bit under 3 miles of walking and a bit over 3 miles of snowshoeing out of (so far) 85 miles is that offensive, then I can't help that.  I imagine that it will be an even smaller percentage going forward since I will have much larger mileage requirements, and I don't have time to walk that much anyway.  If I need to, though, I will.

Besides, where do you draw the line?  I ran about 7 miles tonight with my wife, should those not count because it was at a slower pace than I might have run by myself, or the pace that I wound up running when I abandoned her to run with some other folks who started later?

Walking (any speed) and Running (any speed) are two distinct activities.

However, we have never disallowed walking or hiking from 2k.  Nor really should we.

Just got done putting together today's video update...

You can't really tell what's going on, but between me looking away from the camera at one point, the camera bouncing away from me at another, and the lights that were shining on my face going away for a few seconds near the end, the dog really did a number on us.  He managed to jump into all 3 of our crotches in an effort to get us to run a bit further.  He should have come out for the whole 2 hours with me...that might have wore him out.

Oh, and whether any of you care about the walking or not, I am giving away free stuff on the website, which is always good.  I just finalized the sponsor for this week's contest and I have next week's all lined up.  I probably won't have a chance to get the contest up until tomorrow morning for this week, though, since I got the details right before leaving work and don't think I'll have time tonight to put everything together.
