I am FB friends with my nieces and nephews, and some of their friends....but I am just a cat.
My nephew has an 'acquaintance' fellow high schooler that sent him topless photos of herself. My brother-in-law freaked out and took his cell away for a week, grounded him etc. but was afraid to notify the girl's parents because he didn't want to admit he had seen teh photos.

What FSocks said. I just don't see the need for older guys to be FB friends with high school girls. I know I don't want my 16 year old "friending" older guys/dads. Plus in this day and age, one little innocuous comment or picture taken the wrong way and you're fucked. Figuratively.

I don't get how it even has the appearance of impropriety.
Lets say a minor female ends up accusing you of some sexual misdeeds, all bogus of course, but during the investigation of the allegations it is discovered you are FB friends with a lot of under 18 females, that could be used as evidence that you have a fondness for and shows a pattern of befriending underage females.
I know of an adult aged guy (20 yeras old) that started a friendship with a girl on FB when he was 18 and she said she was 16 at the time. They talked alot on FB and met up a couple to hang out. She celebrated a birthday this summer and told him that it was her 18th birthday and that made sense since he knew her for about two years and she was 16 when they met.
They took their friendship a step further after the birthday and the next thing he knew, the police were at his door and taking him in for sexual misconduct with a minor. The mother found out that the girl was seeing him and called the police. She had just turned 16, not 18. The mother accused him of stalking the girl on FB for two years. The police tried to use his FB friendships when they brought the case to the county attorny. No charges were filed because the legal age for consent is 16 and the girl admitted what they did was concentual.
Just saying in this day and age, its better to play it safe.

Agree completely. I've never received a friend request from any of her male friends and I'm sure I'd feel differently about them. But I won't accept to be consistent and frankly don't know them well enough or care to be FB friends.
