Ran just under 12 miles as a warm-up. Was supposed to just stick to marathon pace (7:25 or so) but it's a feckin' race, right? i didn't kill myself but did manage an official 29:59 and my first ever win/award of any kind. + beer truck

Humidity is a bitch. Held on as long as I could, then ran my time the hard way. Oh, well. Back to work.

Paced 3:00 group for the first 20+ miles and then decided to help a 19 year old who was running his first marathon after he hit the wall just after mile 22. Best decision I've made in a race in a long time. Helping a kid through a rough part late in the race is infinitely better than finishing in 3:00 all alone.

I'm sure I finished ahead of some crossfitters...and I'm sure I finished after many. The key to an event like this, IMO, is to do it with the right people; and I did. Right, in this case, was not fast but fun.

So my 10K wasn't so hot. Didn't DFL though! Ran a 34:03.39, nearly passed someone at the line, got lapped by the leaders twice, and found a weird monkey blanket cloth thing on the cooldown. Also ran in a lovely light mist.

Knee issues starting around lap 13. Walked about 12 hours. Was able to run some overnight until knee decided to scream again. When I could run I mostly couldn't run the downhills. Have 6 nice blisters on my right foot. Had a blast.

It means you're onr step closer to immortality.
I am shooting for <3:15 this week in my marathon do-over. It Boston's heat didn't destroy me, I should be there. I need to be ready to suffer and deal.

<3:00? That's it? Even if Boston through a wrench in your taper phase you can still easily pull off a <2:55...
2013 Goals: Run trails.
I have bigger hopes and expectations, but I don't want to jynx them, nor compel a calf-bandit sighting.
Tune-up race. It's kinda hilly. Would be a 1:12 PR. Haven't raced a 5K since November 2010.
Running 13 miles as warm-up and the race as some MP work. Then drinking from a beer truck after.

i thought that said "kicking kids" road race, which is pretty funny if you are me, but probably someone will be all offended and whatnot.

Kicking Kids is your Indian name, isn't it?
no. my indian name is accidentally-runs-too-far.
but, i think that's racist and you're a bad person for bringing it up.
This is true. More arbitrary depending who's running the thread. Some people really suck at it. I always gave it to the person closest to/who met their goal or best race for their ability. A guy once won because he skipped his race and had a baby that day. There were great race performances that weekend that were deserving.
Yes, i'm still bitching about that. 3 years later.
How do you keep your feet on the ground, when you know you were born to fly?

I'm running somewhere tomorrow. It's going to be beautiful. I can't wait.

At least you've been doing a lot of 3 mile runs!

Bitter; Party of one; Bitter!
As to my criteria, these things count in a majorily arbitrary manner:
These are my opinions and typically wholesalely rejected, by anyone with a hill of beans.
