IMO, XC is pure racing, time is not the primary factor, place is. Doesn't help with you goal but it's all I got
OK, goal is to race people.
I usually get around 18 in about 4 hrs, if that helps. Add another hour for the 19th.
That's me in the back.
Fulton 2 mile Christmas run
Goal was 13:30
Finished 13:35, 10th OA, 2nd 40 -49 AG.
Pretty low key race. There isn't even a time clock at the finish.
Cancer F'in Sucks
It was liberating to just race people. 16th out of almost 400. Picked off a lot of people in the second half and buried myself in the end to catch and pass the lead woman. Whatever. Time is irrelevant (until I run it again).
MTA: Just took the time to look up the recent results of some of the folks I was "racing" and it appears I was in good company.

That looks like a pretty damn fun course. Nice work.
But Och! I backward cast my e'e, On prospects drear! An' forward, tho' I canna see, I guess an' fear!
Runners run.
Goal sub 1:37....... actual 1:37:22.
It was hot as balls. While still hungry for a 1:36 I am pleased with how I managed the suffering in last miles. Finished in negative splits. 2nd AG and 5th OA female. Oh and 20 second PR. If if only I had better weather. Oh well that's life. Deal.
2013 Goals: Stay healthy and Sub 3:30. PR HM, 10K, 5K...etc....lose 5 lbs, get Michelle Obama arms.
The Greaser
1st place in 4:37:03, but only by 90 seconds, had 5 minute lead at 22 mile mark, but he reeled me in and was about a minute behind with 4 miles to go, but I was able to open another 30 seconds before finish only because i saw him, had the two of us been left to finish without knowing where the other was at, he would have beaten me.
course record by 28 minutes, but only second year of the race, in fact, top 5 today all set the course record.
splits of 1:29 (11 mile loop), 1:30 (11.5 mile loop), 1:35 (11.5 mile loop), and includes my complete ineptitude at the bag drop station (at end of each loop), my first time in a race with mid-race bag drop, i was clueless, was drinking gatorade and water, trying to fill my water bottle, trying to open another package of Gu blocks and get them into my carrying pouch, i took at least a minute longer than the other top finishers at each bag drop, i'm an idiot.
will have to report back on whether i lapped Ghostwood, i tried to closely inspect every pair of female legs i passed, but was tough to match them to her avatar.
6:03, 2nd female, brutal course, dislocated finger (on a side note, is that something I can fix myself?).
MTA: Nice work, greaso!

Great job! (I don't think so, better see a doctor)
Proofread carefully to see if you any words out.

Goal for today's trail 50K was 7 hours. With three miles to go it was apparent I had a chance to get in under 7, but had to push it. Forgot about the last half mile or so that was pretty technical (upsy/downsie with lots of sharp, pointy slick rocks). But once I hit the parking lot and a quarter mile to go, I laid it on. Not sure of my official time, but Garmin was 6:58:40. Just squeaked under!
Upcoming races: 5/18 Watershed Preserve 12-hour, 6/2 North Olympic Discovery Marathon, 6/15 Bighorn 50, 7/27 White River 50, 8/24 Cascade Crest <gulp>
My woefully neglected blog.

Race: 'Til We Meet in Hell
Location: Thorncrag Bird Sanctuary, Lewiston Maine
Duration: 90 Minutes (Handicapped)
Goal: 10-11 Miles
2 years ago, I ran 11 miles, which was further than anybody else but I lost because my handicap was 1 and somebody with a 1.15 handicap went further. Last year, the course moved to a new location and was much tougher. I wasn't doing too well and did just over 8 miles although if memory serves I think I might have stopped a little early. I'm too lazy to go back and look. I didn't run the furthest, so my handicap of 1 wouldn't have been the problem.
This year, I should actually get a handicap, since I'm not in very good shape and the summer racing the handicap is based on brought me in behind a couple guys that have been killing it on the trails lately. But, I'm not in very good shape. And, while the location isn't changing, the course is, and it's been made even more difficult this year. So, I'm going to try to maintain a sub-9 minute pace, but that's a reach and I doubt I'll be able to do it.
The loop is a bit over a mile long, you run for 90 minutes and see who goes the furthest. Then your handicap is multiplied by your actual distance. It's got a bit of a hill each loop. Here's the elevation:
Should be fun. Haven't raced for months so I'm looking forward to it.

Way to go, Betsy!

"Way to make Borat look overdressed"
It took me a while to get this.
Speaking of the 19th... There was no t-shirt. Instead, they handed runners a full glass of beer with the race logo on it.
