2000 miles of of whiny ass babies who should run more FU

I'm sick of Hansons already (Read 590 times)

The book only came out in October, breathing new life into the "method." Is it me or is every plodder in the GSP now "doing" Hansons? Fucking make it stop already. That you managed to improve your "PR" from 3:39 to 3:34 between your first and second marathons is not a testimonial.

    Runners run.

My neighbor improved her marathon time by 30 minutes between first and second marathons using Hal Higdon.  Higdon is clearly the way to go.

      2013 Goals:
      Run  trails.

      Fast is better than long

I improved from my 1st to 2nd marathon by 27 minutes, by following the weather reports. This is not just anecdotal, because I improved my 3rd to 4th marathon by the same margin using weather reports. So Al Roker for the win

        2013 Goals: 2500 miles / 2:45 marathon? / sub 2 800m / 4:30 mile / sub 16 5K / sub hour 10 miles

        Give a man a fire and he'll be warm the rest of the night;
Set a man afire and he'll be warm the rest of his life.

        What in the Jehu?

As I understand it, the method involves wearing thick glasses and putting on the foil.

These guys are a fuckin' disgrace!

But Och! I backward cast my e'e, On prospects drear!
An' forward, tho' I canna see, I guess an' fear!

Run lots. Mostly easy and some hard. It's not so sexy.

And everytime I see the book mentioned all I can think of is this

"He conquers who endures" - Persius
"Every workout should have a purpose. Every purpose should link back to achieving a training objective." - Spaniel

              Puttin' on the foil, coach!

              Runners run.

I thought you were speaking of these young men

I did not use that plan and did not improve from my first marathon to the second.  Is that a good testimonial?

So, I'll I have to do is "do" the Hanson's for a 5 minute bump on my marathon PR? I'd really like a 5 minute bump. Both of them or just one?

Some of the self-generated Hanson hype is funny.  Like when they take credit for throwaway clothes (p. 200):

“One of the most common concerns among runners in our training programs is whether they should wear nice running gear that they’ll have to carry with them or something old they don’t mind tossing to the curb.  The Hanson solution is simple: Wear something you’re willing to lose.”

“The Hanson solution…” Heh.  I like that.

They also invented running more than three days a week. Thanks!

I'm doing Hansons. And I don't even have the book. To be completely fair, "doing Hansons" for me means trying to do some MP running, which was my goal before I heard about the book. But I'm still saying I'm "doing Hansons".

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

I dropped ~20min from my first to second marathons (from a smartly-run 3:38 to a poorly-paced 3:18) by listening to Thunder.

                            Both testimonial and irony there.

                              C-R's Hansons > gumbee's Hansons

Key for big improvement between first and second marathon is running your first one like a fucking moron. Worked for me.

                              and
