2000 miles of shots in the ass

I'm sick of Hansons already (Read 587 times)

A Saucy Wench

I took 87 minutes off between my first marathon and my second by just running, getting pregnant, running pregnant, and then just running again

And then 18 minutes off between my second and third marathon by just running

Clearly if you want to REALLY improve have a baby.

I've been flirting with the not running method of marathon training and so far the data isnt looking so good.

      Well dammit.

"When I got too tired to run anymore I just pretended I wasn't tired and kept running anyway" -- Ennay's 7-year-old daughter

Side note: Sage Canaday ran with them, and even wrote a promo book. Now, he's on his own. It doesn't seem to have been a bitter breakup or anything. Seems more like a lifestyle and temperament thing.

The Hansons training philosophy for their elite runners was all about the blue-collar stuff. Get guys together and run a lot of mileage and don't be a wimp. Keep it simple. Develop talent over years and years. Brian Sell, Des Davila, mustaches, etc. They've been great for the post-college scene -- if there were a Hanson's group in every state -- how rad would that be?

For these very reasons this whole hyper-marketed book release / message board 4hr marathoner stuff is pretty grating, as it clashes with the ethos of the group. But to be fair, I am sure that the marketing is outsourced to the publisher or whatever.

I think it's the same thing that Nader talks about in his last blog post -- the tension in our sport between running being an elite thing and being a mass thing. The weird tension is that the very story that the masses want to hear is that they are doing elite (or renegade!) marathon training. Which is of course logically impossible.

This is not just a tension for running culture -- it's at the heart of American culture. I think this same tension, for example, drives gun culture/sales -- people want elite level weaponry because they visualize themselves as this sort of gun master. That's the narrative anyways that drives the mass commodity sale of assault weapons. Same logic as the Hansons stuff.

..........running your first one like a fucking moron.

I've run most of mine like this

I can see the mismatch.  Canaday has a great temperament from what I've seen.  He stopped to chat, hug, and pose for a photo when asked by an aid station volunteer friend of mine at White River this year – and still broke Krupicka's record.

And I was sick of the Hansons before it was cool.

I heard a rumor that Hansons is good because it lets you spend more time at home.

Maybe it's an intermediate step on the path to FIRST marathon training on 3 days/week.

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

Yes and I read the title as "Snark and Boobs".  Guess I associate Nads with the swamp a little too much

I'm sick of Pfitz already and its only my second day.  Seriously, who the hell puts a tempo run on new years day?
