Who all is in here and what r u training 4? (Read 410 times)

And by that I mean eff you all. It was -7° F with a real feel of -23 when I left for my 9 miler to work this morning. Suck on that, losers. Pro Bowl Prediction: A lot of silly people will be seen wearing leis.

Ha, and I thought our weather sucked! We're currently sitting at windchill of -3. When I ran just a bit ago it was a windchill of about 0. I had planned to go ~10 miles, but after 5 said nuts on it--I'm already running slower than an 11 minute pace, so an hour of that crap was plenty. What do you wear when it's that cold? I'm thinking I could have benefitted from a balaclava this AM. k

        I love Baklava!

That, too! Wink Somewhere there is a thread (I think in the health and nutrition forum) about baklava being the ideal running fuel. We made a pan right around the holidays and I had a wedge for breakfast right before a run...it was awesome! Big grin k

And welcome, Masterchap. And by that I mean get the **** out of here Mr. "I can run in really cold weather and write about leis in the same post."
I couldn't find my Greek delicacy to wear this morning, so I put on a headband and wrapped a small scarf around my face. I couldn't breathe with the scarf on and it eventaually got extremely icy and rigid from the moisture of my breath. When I got to school this morning, two other teachers saw me and thought I was an old man. (I'm not.) When I looked in the mirror, my head, eyebrows, and eyelashes were completely covered in frost.

I get that when it's really cold, too--especially my eyelashes. Frequently my upper and lowers will kind of "glue" together, which is pretty annoying. What subject do you teach? I had a teacher growing up who would occasionally run to school, too (~10 miles, IIRC). After I graduated he became the cross country coach for a few years. k

I was just eating a burrito and had a blow out at the end. You know when the tortilla sort of splits and beans and stuff start spilling out and rolling off the paper onto your desk? It was when I had gotten down to near the bottom and had to remove just about all the aluminum foil. Bummer. Oh well it was good. So Masterchap, you have a shower at school right? You're not one of those dirty hippy teachers who runs to work and then marinades in his own juices all day? You know that can be detrimental to the learning environment. I had a teacher who stank once. I think it was 4th grade. He was actually a long-term substitute we had when our real teacher, Mr. Downs was out for some reason. He had B.O. and bad breath. Really bad breath. :shudders:

                    Jeff, looking at you here.......
                      Cool
Yes, we have a shower here at school. No, I don't use it. I mean really, who has the time? I prefer to sit and stew. (Or, if I'm feeling perky, I sit and spin.) I teach Language Arts, not hygiene. No complaints yet!

                        You'll ruin your knees!

I usually don't pay much attention until my chest hair ices up, then I pick up the pace. But kids these days, they just don't listen.
