Well, at least it gave several hundred flabby UT students another reason to get drunk, light mattresses on fire, and take it to the streets in righteous protest.

What was it about Kiffin that USC found so attractive ... his stint at Oakland ... getting crushed by an average Virginia Tech team in the bowl game?

Perhaps they just liked that he would take the job?

That program that may have to wade through several years of sanctions and may not see the top 10 again for the next decade.  I could be wrong.  They certainly have enough stud players to go to the BCS next year if they are allowed to.  But the new recruits could shy away for a while.

USC has been very dominant.  But here is some perspective... from 1987 to 1999 Florida State finished #1, #2, #3, or #4 in the final AP poll every single year.  All 13 of them.  In 2000 they slumped and finished #5.

That was fast.

Sometimes, I don't know about Mike Garrett.

Urban Meyer thought it was pretty funny when he found out by text.

Who names their son "Urban"?

Or "Lane," for that matter.

Are you sure that's not just his wife reminding him to pick up milk on the way home?

The tangents are moot.

This thread reminds me of Lane Meyer, the once great champ, now a study in moppishness.

He's all wrong for us, baby. I saw you beat that man like I never saw no man get beat before, and the man kept coming after you. Now we don't need no man like that in our lives.

I've heard "Lame Kiffin" repeated quite a few times today.
