That was a good read.

"As a dreamer of dreams and a travelin' man I have chalked up many a mile. Read dozens of books about heroes and crooks, And I've learned much from both of their styles." ~ Jimmy Buffett
"I don't see much sense in that," said Rabbit. "No," said Pooh humbly, "there isn't. But there was going to be when I began it. It's just that something happened to it along the way."”
B's hand is cool. Tell him that.
Damn, I missed this. I don't think he'd agree, but I'll try and drop "yeah, so Purdey from RA, you know, the geeky running board I hang out on, well he says your hand is cool" into conversation. What he does considering his hand is pretty cool though..and I mean that in a non-dodgy way!
"Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow. Don't walk behind me; I may not lead. Just walk beside me and be my friend."
Heh. Awesome.

Yeah, he pretty much burns me off in every activity involving hands, not only the climbing etc but also stuff that requires finesse/delicateness. He's a determined arsehole at times, especially with stuff like this when, at some point, people (including those close to him) have implied or said outright that a specific task would be impossible for him, so he either does it or finds a way around it as best he can. Some little stuff is stupidly hard, but most is fine and you don't notice anything different in what he does. To the extent that people tend not to realise anything is wrong with his hand for quite a while, even when they've been rock climbing with him for a week.
All this applies to many people with physical abnormalities though, they're not really a disability (especially something minor like B has) but they just require a bit of adaptation. However it doesn't mean he wants to pass that (or my cankles) on to anyone in case they begrudge him. His major issues are that he couldn't join the armed forces because he can't pass the medical because of it, and that he had a lot of surgery as a kid, and the final operations actually reduced dexterity and were really painful.
Geoff Roes on consistency. When they recover I'd love to hear what the Leadville veterans think of this.
Have you qualified for Boston? I want to interview you!

Really good thread, bumped up due to Barringer's win. Why America should become obsessed with 800/1500/mile.

(thunderous applause, sir)
And 10-15 MPW for 800 and 1500 is plenty right?
For now. But the guys should be attempting a sub-4 on the treadmill every week. Once they break 4, then they'll have the motivation to really go after it, and they can bump their mileage up to 35 MPW and make an attempt at the 5K.
There was a point in my life when I ran. Now, I just run.

51.6? That is ridiculous. http://www.letsrun.com/2011/1500final-0903.php

Wow, that got my heart racing. Even though I knew Centrowicz got bronze I was totally nervous watching him get bounced around in the pack with 500m to go and sitting in 8th at the bell.

What I love about silverlight is that it won't buffer, so waiting doesn't help the experience. That, or I'm not smart enough to fix the problem. But probably it is just universalsports expressing its love for me.
It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.
That's what I call a solid plan for the future. Incoming 2012 champs!
And yea, that was a crazy good last lap, and fun race to watch in general.
