February 8-14 Racing (Read 1032 times)

Feb. 14  Valentines 5k.   Valparaiso, IN  - Don't really have a goal for this one just going test out my fitness level.  No taper....going for an easy 14 miles on Saturday.  If I go sub 16:50 or win the race I will be happy.
Indy Mini (I hate that race title) Training Series 5k 2/13. I would like to say 18Tight lippedx but who knows what the weather conditions will be around here on Sat. So I will take the "sub 20" weak ass cop out route.

Hah. Talk about high expectations. I am in no kind of 5k shape right now. 20:07 and a big fat FAIL. Finished 3 AG.

8sec from your goal is hardly a big fat fail.  Racing in these temps sucks.

2012 goals:  Fastest race times since 2006.

Meh...my race got pushed back to feb 28th. So hold that goal til then. Good thing too..the DBF and I almost broke up last night so I doubt he wouldv'e been in the mood to pace me..then again, we did make up, so I think all is forgotten. Whatevs, the snow would have sucked to race in today anyways.

I think you're being a little hard on yourself, too.  It's February.  That said this is why I like being in the Swamp.  Nobody is ever completely satisfied.

There is a long dark road ahead of me.

                I think I'm taking a DNS.  I'm sick as a dog.

                Bring it on.

1 Mile race @ Montana State, Bozeman, Montana

Goal: i have no idea what i can do for the mile.  coach is throwing me in it on a bit of a whim, but i suppose i would like to shoot for 4:19

ran 4:23.52 and definitely had something left in the tank at the end.  it's the first time i've run a similar race in 9+ months, and it's about an 8 second pr.  alititude adjustment ( -5.28 seconds) brings down the time to 4:18.24.  so i'd say it was a good race and it a good prep for my conference meet in 2 weeks.

                    Nice, Dickey.

Yeah, C-R, take it easy; I think you've gotta consider the weather and the fact that it's early in the season.

If we don’t try we’ll never know. At least I can find out how good I can be.  I can have an answer at the end of the days, and have a hell of a good time with the process. -Desi Davila

In it for the long run..

Good job, Dickey!  Excellent time.    C-R, that is substantial compliance.  Nice race.

                         ran 4:23.52

way to prove me wrong on my 4:30-4:35 prediction !

                          Well done Dickey!

And generally stated, I'm pissed about the performance today which will fuel my working harder for the next one. No excuses - I just didn't put in the work to get the results.

                          On My Horse

16:39 for my 5k, a 36 second PR, but I missed my goal.

It was my own fault too, I went out way to hard, 3:09 first k, 5:0x first mile, 9:4x low for 3k, then I died.

Hell of a PR for that level, so I wouldn't be too hard on yourself!  Live and learn.

wow great races Dickey and Father Russia, you guys are speed demons.

I did the Martha's Vineyard 20 miler yeserday. 2:12:30(6:38m/mi). I wanted to run a 6:40 pace because thats the pace I would like to run Boston in so I'm happy I hit my pace but a bit disapointed in how difficult it was. Started loosing it at 18-19 so I definatly couldn't keep it for 26.2 miles yet. Good thing there is still 2 months to Boston.

Next up, I get to crush my half marathon PR in two weeks.
