It might be flat but the wind is usually against you 3/4 of the way. Where is you half? Perhaps another head-to-head.
Great run Tim! I think you are right on target. I have run MV a few time and it is a good test for your Boston training. It might be flat but the wind is usually against you 3/4 of the way. Where is you half? Perhaps another head-to-head.
The wind was pretty good this year but the was alot of ice on the paths. around 18 miles there was close to a mile of snow pack which took a bit out of the legs. We've got a pretty good contingent going down and doing the Hyannis half and relays.
Marthas Vinyard 20 mi...no time goal, just wanted to enjoy the ride. I had been sick this week, ran a 5k last week that I wished I hadn't done. Didn't bring my garmin, and only looked a the time a few times... 2:20:21 5OA 1st AG 1min 19sec pr.. Yup, I'll take that. had fun.

CR, but it is only in its 3rd year, and it is a secondary race to a 100 miler, so the CR was soft. And with my new CR...it is still soft.
I went out waaaaay too fast and spent most of the race hanging on for dear life. Between the NINE effing bathroom stops, and the 2nd place girl breathing down my neck for hours, I was never able to relax and enjoy myself. However, the other runners were great, and it was just the kind of run I needed to train for my next race.
The race was on a rails to trails path. I wore road shoes, and good portion of the race was on railroad gravel. The bottom of my feet are no bueno.

Soft? Enjoy the moment and the CR holds until broken regardless.

and spent half of race going back and forth with http://www.desireeficker.com/
when schneidr runs his first marathon of season, does he get to claim the HM swampy season best for his en route first or second half of that race? how do the rules work around here.
Feb 14: Run With Your Heart - trail 15k Goal: Stay upright It's a new race so I have little idea of the course. Surface is hilly bridal trail, I think. With 2' of snow on the ground, footing will suck and useless to pick a time/pace goal. Signed up so I'll run it but should probably be racing the road 5k in downtown instead.

Rolling bridal trails with 6" of new powder upon a foot of packed snow - zapped the life outta me. Sliding-jostling on every step and never got in a rhythm. 1:28:20 and 5th OA. First year race and if it wasn't for a friend RD I'd have bagged it. Feeling post marathon-sore this morning.
Met the goal, anyhow.
"Race Across The Sky"
Holy shit.
Course record.
Not bad for a "pedestrian" ultra runner.
Great job, pace was awesome for that distance. Someday I like to get into ultras but still nervous if I could handle the distance.
the unrunner
nice run.
we used to walk the RR tracks a lot back in the day, and if i remember correctly, RR gravel is rather largish -- a rolled ankle waiting to happen. so, congrats there on not rolling an ankle.
if you don't run, you'll rust. [tom petty] ..... i just wanna get back on track, even if it kills me. [motion city soundtrack] ..... if i only could be running up that hill, with no problems. if only i could, be running up that hill. [kate bush] ..... still running in place [alkaline trio] ..... at least i'll try and run, and run tonight, everything will be alright [the killers] ..... don't give up the distance. Feb 13: Pemberton Trail 50K, AZ, 4:30
Result: 4:27. Given how my legs felt after this I really should have adjusted my time goal for the marathon, but I didn't.
Feb 14: Lost Dutchman Marathon, AZ, 3:25 Result: 3:36. By mile 10 it was clear that 3:25 pace was not sustainable. Somehow, though, I pulled out a 7:25 mile 26, my fastest mile of the day by 15 seconds. Yeah, I'm a wimp. I never like to work hard until I can smell the finish. Turns out a lot of folks did both these races: 5 Maniacs (including srlopez), plus a bunch more who were not (officially!) Maniacs. A dozen or so overall, I think. No awards for me in either race, but I'm pretty sure I had the lowest combined time of those who did both. Also, I finished the marathon one second behind Pam Reed, famous ultrarunner. She'd passed me in mile 24. Afterwards she told me, "Hey, I think I'm going to join your club" ( = Marathon Maniacs). Cool! This was my first double since last summer -- I wanted to make sure I would be up for Boston / Country Music / Big Sur again this year. I think it's a go (though that's not what I thought around mile 15 yesterday).

Bandited a 5k last minute on Saturday. had planned for 19 flat (marathon pace), but got giddy and ran in the actual winner at 18:21. I started behind the field, so it was rather weak.
Mercedes Marathon was a amazing. I am sure if anyone was close to Birmingham, they could have heard the boom around 9:20 caused from my blowup. 2:55:21 unofficially, and 15th place. 10 miles in 1:02:22, 20 miles in 2:05, and last 10k spent in prone position while (insert gerund here) myself as hard as I saw fit.
Yes, about a minute slower than my monkey time and some three minutes slower than last year.
as always actual report to follow per requests.
