          Ok...so, who does what for a taper? Less than a marathon, I will back off a few days before. I like to do strides a couple of times that week. For marathon up to 50 miles, I do one week serious taper. Two weeks out I start to reduce the mileage, but maintain intensity with a couple of days of strides to keep the legs feeling long. For 100 miles, I generally will really start to relax in all accounts two weeks out. I love the taper period...it is a period where my body can heal from the recent abuse i gave it and it's something to look forward to. Rest is good! Races force rest, so therefore, races are good Wink Steve

            I'm a professional taper-er when in taper mode. I love it. Appetite is calmer, schedule frees up a bit, legs heal... it's loverly! Big grin
            running until I hit 1900 miles for the year. whether fast or slow I will just run.
              I am tapering. Look at the slope of my summary. Sheesh. Part of my taper means staying away from you hooligans. I think JK may be on to something. Wink Plus, that mojo thread is threatening my mojo.
