Same rules, but I'll repeat them anyways.

You have to beat your goal to win the 8-ball.  Set a tough goal and kick its ass.  You aren't winning a racing award (from me) for giving a spectator CPR during a race.

The A1 rule:  You must enter to win.  Enter before running the race.

The AP rule:  Date, distance, name of the race and goal.  I have faith in you, Perry.

Give me a damn goal.  Something that looks more like ##:##, and less like, "Well, I've had turf toe all week, so I don't know what to expect, but I wouldn't mind finishing somewhere near my neighbor who raced for University of Alabama back in 1984, and is still strong but has been distracted because his cat was diagnosed with the feline form of crohn's disease last Wednesday".

    The Honorable Mention is back.

Don't modify old posts with your results or any change in race plans.

This is a stupid goal - Race starts @ 6:30pm - Mid 90s.  The real fun is my Wife and Kids are doing the 2 mile race - So its a family affair ... We will all have matching t-shirts (from the race - not at the race).

I don't know why I wind up running this race every year. I really kind of don't like it, especially the switch to Nuun, which normally gets a strident boycott from me. But it's close, it's flat, there's strawberry shortcake, and it's a nice test of WS recovery.

My PR is 19:27, from this same race 2 years ago. I haven't been close to that since. The best I've done this year so far is 19:51. I like stupid goals.

Sub goal is to beat the guy from our local running group that I've never beaten. Hell, it's not even really a sub goal, if I beat him and don't hit that time I'll still be stupidly happy.

(as always, "beat L Train" is in there too, just not sure if he'll be able to race.)

                  I put it under there.

This is probably a stupid goal as I don't really have any recent races or training runs to support this goal.  It does sound like a nice number though.

I'll be pushing my son so that means I'll be moving over 300 lbs (me, him, & chair) while holding a conversation and it looks like there is a little hill in the middle. Should be fun.

                      HobbyJogger & HobbyRacer

I'm going to try to PR whatever distance I race first tomorrow. Jul 3, local track series. My best shot is the 800, and DW is talking about running both 1600 heats, which may mean I'm working both and then the 800 will be my first race, and things will go best. But if I get a chance at running a 1600 heat I probably won't be able to resist it.

So, my goal is, 1600 = darn, this one is more complicated PR = break 5:09.70 on the mile, so break 5:09.70 / 1.0058 = break 5:07.90

or break PR on 800 = break 2:35.96

or break PR on 200 = break 29.77

Actually the 800 PR is soft, I think, so maybe I can break it even if I race the 1600 first. Shalane would Smile

PS: Strictly speaking, I didn't make it this complicated just to try to piss off WG. That's just a nifty side benefit.

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

Didn't you just PR for the 800 in last week's 1500?

Really, my goal is to show up, run, win for Northfield Female and get back to my house before the moving truck arrives.  Because who doesn't want to race the day they pack up their whole house and move to a new place in another state?

                            Bring it on.

Getting in 4 legs varying from 5 miles to 9.5 miles. should be interesting. Very hilly and supposed to be warm. Excellent preparation for the 50k coming up in 3 weeks. No idea how i'm going to handle nutrition during the race. I'm bring pringles, PBJ and GU's with lots of water and Gatorade.

.... Maybe my goal should be 2:25 ...

Put on a single, combined 1600 heat, DW ran in it, so my first heat was 800, so I was ready to rock, but I still failed.

                                goal result splits finish

I thought I pushed harder in the second half of 800, when I could still hear someone behind me, and I was saying to myself, I gotta drop him, he raced the 1600 and he has to be tired....  In fact, I did gain on him, but only b/c he faded even more than I did.

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.
