What does Tunis make?

2 more rules about the 400

you need to find a track

you need to be thinking of the movie Roadhouse

    What's that?

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

    What does Tunis make?

      ...

And since training obviously needs to be a blunt instrument for the next 2-3 months anyway I figured: who fucking cares?

This kind of lackadaisical attitude is what gets in the way of you contributing useful speed workouts with specific instructions for the newbies running 5-10 miles a week and wanting to know whether they should be doing 400s or hill workouts in between their tempos and fartleks.

      The King of Beasts

        What's that?

oh, I guess that would be Road House

"As a dreamer of dreams and a travelin' man / I have chalked up many a mile. / Read dozens of books about heroes and crooks, / And I've learned much from both of their styles." ~ Jimmy Buffett

“"I don't see much sense in that," said Rabbit.
"No," said Pooh humbly, "there isn't. But there was going to be when I began it. It's just that something happened to it along the way."”

looks like there is a group in Oregon doing 75 x 400 at 70 with zero rest.

I googled, and found a movie by that name -- http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098206/

Does that have 400s in it? It wasn't obvious from the synopsis.

                It's amazing he pulled that off--it's exactly a 70 average per 400.

                          No, that's not a road - that's a place for Trent's kid to pee.

Good link, Jeff. If I may sum up: mileage is not the key. Hard workouts plus mileage plus adequate recovery is the key. If there is any doubt, sacrifice mileage first.
