I hear that sex at 12,000 feet is much better - since I do not live near mountains, I was thinking about buying an altitute tent / system.
I hear its safer than choking - I know its $5,000-$7,000 - but you can not put a price on safety.
Anyone out there have one of these systems? How do you like it?

I started using one last summer, and I have become a huge fan. The adaptation process may take a while for it to really be a benefit, but I can tell huge differences now. The big thing I've noticed is that as long as I force myself to sleep through the entire night inside of it that I'm waking up much easier at earlier times with a lot more energy. I've increased my mileage by about 30% over last winter and it feels easy while last year I was just grinding away. I can't say the altitude sleeping is the sole reason, but I feel it is playing a huge part.
(currently I'm sleeping at about 10,800 I think)

Interesting that your experience tells you it allows for better recovery (at least that's how I'm interpreting your post).
One of the professed benefits of EPO doping is that it's supposed to greatly increase the ability to recover, which would be counter to sleeping in a low-oxygen environment.
I wonder if it's because you're able to handle the training easier with the higher RBCs so you don't require as much recovery to feel rested.
2012 goals: Fastest race times since 2006.

Hypoxic tents have certainly been marketed to football players and MMA fighters advertising the training recovery benefits from higher RBC and not just endurance improvement.
I don't know how much of that is faster recovery from less effort required during training versus actually aiding the recovery process.
this thread went from sex to serious in 2.7 seconds. how disappointing.
Reflects the age and marital status of the participants.
how disappointing.
Agreed. I guess they are just trying to reaffirm the group name.

Are you saying I'm old?
If it helps, my initial response was going to be along the lines of "You could accomplish the same thing with a drawstring and spring clamp for adjustment, and may just find you particularly enjoy the experience."
If someone starts threads on chess and video gaming I'll get no work done.
NICE
Don't fool yourself. You weren't getting anything done anyhoo. And who could with that crazy upside down horse?
Mmmm interesting stuff, I worked in the Hyperbaric Unit of a hospital at one point in college. Didn't see any athletes only burn victims, diabetics that were about to lose a limb or digits, and people with the bens (deep diving nerve damage). It worked for them, wonder if it helps athletes. I know Hines Ward was a huge advocate of it before the last Super Bowl that they were in since he was trying to recover from a sprained MCL.
New chapter forthcoming
"Another One" is single and ready to take things from serious to sex in 2.7 seconds if you like.
Time for the relaunch. Stay tuned....
That and he was taking platelet rich plasma injections.
